These crystalline scales (while not quite as durable as Metallic when it comes to physical attacks) make a dragon's scales gain the lasting strength of diamonds and has a higher resistance to magic. The scales reflect and refract the light in such a way that makes them almost invisible in their native dark kingdom. Some have also noted that it softens their overall appearance making them seem less threatening, in comparison to the cold gleam of metal.
