"It's not quite level..."

Though her father wanted many children, there was only one egg in her parents' first nest. She worries sometimes that she might be a disappointment, but being an only child does ensure she is spoiled rotten by her doting parents.

Jo has an unusual heritage, being half dragon and half moon spirit. For the most part, she seems like a normal dragon, though she can innately tell the phase of the moon even if it is hidden by clouds or the sun.

She is a perfectionist through and through, so when she decided to pick up the craft of carpentry, she mastered it with exactitude. Anything she builds will stand for centuries, solid and immobile, every part reinforced, every edge at a precise angle, everything functional and without superficial extras.

Jo is rarely seen without her tools and is a tireless worker who hates to be without a project. She gets along well with the equally pragmatic craft dragon Splinter. She never expected to fall in with one of the more scholarly, book-loving dragons, but after making a walking stick for Tome to help him get about better with his injured leg, she found herself spending more and more time with him, listening to his stories about monsters and battles while she sanded wood.

The couple's first nest together was marred by tragedy thanks to an attack by a malevolent spirit. Their eldest, a wildclaw named Ayla, was possessed by the spirit and later left the clan to seek out Tome's parents in Oakrest; the other, a coatl named Quercus, suffered from severe seizures. In spite of his handicap, he inherited her skill in woodworking, and they sometimes work together on large projects.
