Chessi

Chessi Fashion Management - Nine of Cups Chessi has been with the clan a long time and has always been a figure of mixed popularity within it. Particularly in her early years, she was snobbish and elitist in the selection of dragons she would deign to associate with, but nowadays the easygoing nature of Driftwood Shore Clan has mellowed her. Although she still considers herself superior, she is quite eager to meddle in the affairs of others for their own betterment (or for her own entertainment). While she previously only cared for herself and the prestige of her own offspring, Chessi has instead turned to the aesthetic and genetic "betterment" of the clan as a whole. She uses her not inconsiderable wealth and her skills as a beautician to provide everything from scale grooming advice to sudden surprise gene scroll gifts you would look so very good in, my dear, you simply mustn't refuse. Although her suggestions are usually unwelcome in a rag-tag clan of dragons who generally do not care much for beauty, her forceful charisma and intense personality is hard to ignore- as well as her own glittering good looks. Chessi appeared on Random Dragon on Oct 19, 2016 at roughly 1:40PM Flight Rising time and has never let anyone forget it.

History:
Beyond vague memories of an unhappy past as a lowly footnote in an oppressive clan, Chessi's origins are lost to history, her physical form customised beyond recognition. Her mate Serik, during his own seasons of self-customisation, put out an advertisement for a compatible mate, with suitable colour and pedigree. Intrigued, Chessi responded, and has been the wiry surgeon's mate ever since. Her policy with clan affairs has always been self-preservation and distance, and she had no part in the Swords War, content to keep to herself until it was over and the winners were decided.

Physical:
Chessi is a fairly compact Ridgeback with a thick neck and tail, her proportions shapely and smooth. Her spines and scutes are surprisingly regular for a Plague dragon and overall in combination with her gold skin this gives her an almost uncanny neatness, like an artificial creation of metal and velvet. While she has no interest whatsoever in fighting, her dense build gives her a surprisingly hefty smack when she chooses. Chessi does not fly often and is not agile in the air, favouring long-term low energy flying. She has absolutely no interest in the Sea and barely touches water of any kind, as is typical for her breed.

Familiar: In contrast to Chessi's rather fickle nature and despite the amount of doting and fussing she places upon it, her golden Fangar is an incredibly sweet and good-natured pet; tolerant of hatchlings and affectionate to all. The only places it is banned from are places that would suffer from the incredible amount of fur it sheds, such as Zook's workshop, or places that would be dangerous to a chubby affectionate feline.

Serik: Chessi's rather manipulative personality is very much turned towards her small Spiral mate, and she delights in tormenting him with jealousy and doting on him in equal measure, which drives the little surgeon wild. Like Serik, she richly delights in material wealth, demanding only the highest and finest. The doctor is hard-pressed to keep up with these expensive demands and she is well known to be the only dragon able to pry anything, treasure or otherwise, out of Serik's grabby little paws.

Sylvanite: Somehow the two golden dragons have struck up something of a friendship, despite their very different roles within the clan. Both content to chit-chat fashion and beauty on the shallowest level, nonetheless both Chessi and Sylvanite are dragons with deeper levels of intelligence and wit and perhaps this is what harmonises them. Chessi was one of the first people to openly accept Sylvanite when she joined the clan, getting her out of the hot mess she was at the time and helping her build up her current charisma.

Offspring: Chessi has always had tremendously poor relationships with her children. In the early days she laid her eggs purely for profit, and the hatchlings were taken to market to be sold for their valuable pedigree without further thought. Some even ran from this fate, such as Haliaeetus. Chessi does not breed as frequently as she once did, but her relationship with any new children would undoubtedly be as cold, even those with similar ideals such as Cherish.
