It is often said that Cerin is too young to have been through so much misery and torture.

Cerin was bullied as a young dragon and no one ever spoke anything other then rude and insulting words to him. His parents left him to fend for himself as a hatchling. Other dragons took advantage of this and would often beat him up, knowing there was no one who would stand up for him or take revenge. See, Cerin was a very passive hatchling. He was incredibly shy and awkward so it was easy for others to bully him. His clan would even take out their frustrations on him, the adults included.

After a while, Cerin had enough. No one would ever help him or uplift him. He was crying every night at this point. There wouldn't be anyone coming to save him. He scratched and marked his own body. He pulled out a feather or two every day. Bleeding felt so good. It distracted him from the pain. One night he took it a step further and ran into the forest away from his clan, carrying a sharp knife with him. He realized he didn't want his clan to ever find his body and so fled to the far Southern Icefield.

Once there, he took the knife and, with shaking claws, drove it into his right arm. Blinding pain shot through his body. He fell to the ground and curled into a ball. Cerin yelped, loud and blood curling. Slowly, his vision faded to black and he loss consciousness.

After some amount of time, Cerin opened his eyes and found himself in a strange cave surrounded by strange scents and dragons. There was a female mirror, a male skydancer, two female pearlcatchers and a male coatl. He tried to stand but collapsed from the pain the shot through his right arm. The group of dragons heard the thud from him falling and two rushed over to help him up. It was the mirror and the aqua female pearlcatcher. He tried to push them away but they held on.

"You need to rest, little one. Your arm still hasn't healed yet," the mirror said as they placed him down upon the moss bed. The pearlcatcher looked away but he caught the message in her eyes. "How bad is it?" he asked. He needed to know how close he had come. "Little one, you injured a very fragile part of your arm. I'm afraid to say this but you may never be able to fully use it again," the pearlcatcher said, mournfully. Cerin stared at her, breathless. "We did our best but there is a misplaced bone that I simply can't heal. I'm sorry little one. If only I knew more," she said wishfully. The mirror scolded her. "You did your best. Now little one, what is your name?" she asked.

"My name? I was never given one. They never deemed me worthy of a name," he said, fighting back bitter tears. The mirror nodded. "That's fine. We'll find something. I see your from the Tangled Wood. What brings you so far South? aside from your...accident," she asked, searching for the right word. "I didn't want them to find me," he said simply. "Would you want to stay here until you're better?" she offered. He nodded. The mirror smiled and introduced herself as Lord Iceflame, then introduced the other dragons and said they were a part of Storm clan.

Cerin stayed with Storm clan, even after he healed as much as he could. They were his family now. They named him Cerin which means little dark one. It was fitting. His leg never did heal fully, just like the pearlcatcher, whom he latter learned was named Vallei, said. It hurts to put a lot of pressure on it or use it for more then walking. He wears a brace for it to keep it from being injured further.
