✶ An Arcaner In Training "You're hopeless," piped up the sprite as he fluttered to and fro, scribbling on the pages in the tome with a teachers vigor. He stopped and pulled on the head fin of the wayward Bogsneak with a huff. "Are you listening to me? Have you hear a single word I've said to you?" The dragon tilted his head, let his tongue flicker out and linger before pulling it back in with an amused little smile on his face. "Something about magic?" he asked which only made the sprite sigh and put his hands over his face. "Did I say something wrong again?" This bogsneak was going to be the end of him. Arctumbra gave a bit of a laugh. "Relax! I've got this all under control, you see I have the cloak, the tools, the book, and even these helpful little fairies! I'm doing fine!" He sat back on his haunches, tail flicking behind him. The sprite couldn't believe that he'd gotten stuck with this oaf. Honestly he was going to just briefly stay at this frigid lair but after realizing the disaster in waiting that this Bogsneak was he'd figured it'd be best he try and save the rest of this lair. He took a few moments to collect himself. "Just having the things won't make you a great Magician, nor much good at Magic at all; it takes practice with these tools to do anything!" he said trying not to let too much irritation into his voice. Arctumbra didn't seem to grasp the massive undertaking he'd assumed. "Do you understand?" "Mmmhmm, sure do, that's why I've got you around. You see?" Replied the Bogsneak with that same stupid grin on his face. "Also did you tell me your name before you started scolding me? I can't remember." "I Of-..." No wait he hadn't. He'd been so caught up in the scolding. "Well, uhm it's Vitreus; my name is Vitreus." "Nice to meet you Vitreus, can't wait to do more Magic!" Arctumbra announced standing back up and hobbling along with a pleased look on his face. 
A MONTH? It couldn't have only been a month that he'd been stuck with this Bogsneak! Honestly what a disaster it'd been. "No that is not the words! It's 'Surge sursus' with an emphasis on the sus alright?" Vitreus said with an exasperated sigh. Maybe Bogsneak mouths just weren't designed to say these words. Their tongues didn't seem that different from Coatls and Coatls did magic fine. "Surge sersas!" Called Arctumbra in a mighty voice. Nothing happened to the stone they were trying to lift. The sprite could not have looked more disappointed. "Surge Sursul!" Another useless attempt. "Surgay sursus!" How did he manage to do it every way but the right way? "Riiight, maybe we should call it a day, I think my head will explode if we don't. Maybe I'll get a vocab sheet together with pronunciation and we'll practice that before we bother with spells, and before you ask there is no way I'm letting you try potions yet." The sprite had spoken and Arctumbra gave a huff. "Well I think I did pretty good, if I believe enough magic will happen! Like...uh well like magic," he mused as he grinned over at Vitreus who just shook his head. Why was he still bothering? "That's not how magic works, magic requires study and practice, constant study and practice;" he replied. "You don't just believe it and it works." He rubbed his temples. "Lets try this again tomorrow." Arctumbra gave a nod and a laugh. "You're the boss!" he agreed as he slunk back into the lair with the sprite in tow. "I'm sure I'll get it after a good nights sleep." He'd said for almost a month now. "Yes...I'm sure," Vitreus murmured with a roll of his eyes. "Nice to meet you long derg friend! Arctumbra has much oodlie wardrobes and Snek didn't even try to eat any insect-like friends of Arctumbra! Arctumbra has many things with writings on them, will he read to Snek please? SNEK LIKE LISTENING/10" "If he could read..." Vitreus muttered under his breath. "I like this Snek...maybe he could learn magic with us," Arctumbra mused. The sprite just rolled his eyes harder, please Arcanist no! |
