"He could sell a saddle to a mustang"

Kneff, have you ever gotten yourself into a sticky situation while you were out gathering ingredients?
27165634p.png "Funny you should ask! I have! My soon-to-be-familiar, the little ragamouse named Anole, was at the center of it. That day I had ventured a little deeper into the wilds than I normally did. Initially spotting the little animal, I followed it as it ran off into the bushes." Kneff chuckled to himself.
"If you were going to ask why I decided to follow a ragamouse, it was because I had this old wives tale in mind--I knew it was just baloney, but I didn't think anything bad would come of it. Anywho, at the time I had no idea of course, but he had lured me into a trap. After being ensnared in a net and unknowingly poisoned by another trap, the beastclan finally showed themselves. Who would have guessed that Mith recruited animals to lead dragons into traps?! I never would have! Actually it wasn't until later that I discovered that the fauns were the ones that enlisted animals to do their bidding, and had an alliance with these Mith. Apparently, the two beasts had a hard time adapting to the wilds, as their previous homes had been overtaken by dragons. As I learned, they had allied with each other as well as some centaur in the area to form a sort of... Northeast beastclan outpost. They all had their specialties to living in the Viridian Labyrinth, but had been driven out of their homes by settling dragons. So who would blame them for being a little bitter?

"Of course they didn't tell me all this at first, I had to reassure them that I was from a relatively small clan, one that had a habit of laying low and not instigating fights, even if there were nearby beasts. They didn't come around quickly but I suppose my handsome and charm wore them down. Later after they freed me from the net and gave me a nice lengthy lecture as punishment, I couldn't help but feel sorry for them. I knew of the dominance that dragons had over beasts but since our clan rarely partook in the battle, I never bothered myself with the morality of it all. Although it wasn't up for me to say, I had promised them that our clan would never attack them, if anything we would try to help, as long as they never started fights with local clans either. That ended up working out just fine.

"But hey! That's not the end of it! Remember how I said I had been poisoned? Turned out to be a longer process than anything. The toxin, provided by mith naturalists, was a combination of several natural and unnatural spices and herbs. Famously known as Dragon Paste, it's known for being extremely poisonous to dragons--liquifies one's insides actually-- but not Beastclan. Also it has no antidote, because why would they make an antidote for something that doesn't hurt them? Anyhow, had we not found a specialist sooner or later, I would be a puddle of tundra mush. Some pearlcatcher with an exotic accent came all the up from the Shifting Expanse to my aid. He had informed me that there was no cure for the poison as of yet, or at least not one he could cook up fast enough to save my life, so he had to improvise. Containing the poison, as he put it. So now I have this thin clear layer of skin on my underbelly where the poison sloshes around, and behind it is a layer of muscle that protects my organs. In large doses it's essentially an acid, but thankfully I'm now immune to it... To some extent!

"Initially after I returned to my clan and word got out, I was made fun of for being taken advantage of by a ragamouse. Well joke's on them because I can just poison their food even easier now."
