Ametrine joined the clan shortly after Jade. He was also the first to find a familiar, the Banded Owlcat. Since obtaining a shadow sprite he divides his time evenly between them and they both enjoy helping him with his spells and research in different ways. Although Solstice was at first very distrustful of mages, he gained his trust through his gentle and kind nature and soon they became close friends. It was mainly due to Ametrine's quiet disapproval of Solstice's rash, cocky nature that the mirror mellowed out into a wiser leader.
Ametrine is gay, and has yet to find a mate. He prefers to spend his days poring over old tomes and learning all he can about both shadow and light as well as their differences and rivalries.He is a talented mage, and his prowess with magic is unmatched within the clan thanks in part to his age. His skill with illusory, damaging, and dark magic is formidable, though he's physically weaker than some other imperials. He likes learning new spells and incantations and practices whenever he can. Secretly he has an affinity for urban legends and fairy tales because he believes every story has a seed of truth inside it. Recently while on a walk through the woods he stumbled (almost quite literally) across a tiny fae hatchling left abandoned on the border between the sunbeam ruins and the tangled wood. He rushed her home in a fold of his cloak and refused to let anyone else come near her until Jade was able to convince him to let her help with the care of the miniature and delicate little fae. Wisteria rarely speaks, and when she does it's only to Ametrine and Jade. She's still a bit of a troublemaker because of her curiosity, even going as far as to read a skydancer scroll and transform herself into the delicate breed. Ametrine is a particularly overprotective father but he tries to let her roam if she wants to. Luckily for him, she much prefers to spend her days silently curled around one of his antlers or resting on one of the imperial's massive hand-written spell tomes while he works in his study. She's learning shadow magic quickly and he's delighted to have an apprentice who actually comes from shadow for once. He's a bit new to being a parent but he's determined to do his best. |
