Penelope

Penelope is as cheerful and sweet as the cotton candy colors of her hide. A natural-born caretaker, her maternal instinct has driven her to take the hatchlings of the Crystal Toadstool as her charge, no matter the breed or temperament. Acting as den mother, she sees to it that all hatchlings remain safely within the bounds of the clan and stay out of trouble. She enjoys teaching them about the world around them -both within the Tangled Wood an without- and how to properly socialize with other dragons. She gets anxious if she is not able to care for certain hatchlings, which has put her at a point of contention with a few of the clan's more reclusive pairs.

If not in the nesting grounds with youngsters hanging off of her frills, Penelope can often be found leading the hatchlings on 'field trips' to other parts of the claim. Her particular favorites are the mushroom fields and the training grounds. She used to take her charges on nature walks through the swampy eastern boundaries of the claim, but she stopped after an accident with a hatchling falling into one of the mucky pools. She had him out again and safe in seconds, but he was caked with goopy mud and it took a good hard scrubbing to get the dirt out from under his scales.

In the rare moments where she is not with the hatchlings, she either spends the afternoon reading peacefully in the clan's library, or quiet evenings with her mate, with whom she hopes to soon lay a nest of her own.
