Cyclone was born to an Water clan, with the ever present dream of being a Wind Flight Representative seeming far away, never to be fulfilled.

From the time he hatched, Cyclone had known he was not meant to inhabit the freezing water landscape, although his bright green scales were perfect for Seaweed hunting, he was no use in Open-Water Hunting, his Clans specialty.

He dreamed only of a Wind Clan, a place where he could express his talents, be accepted for the wind like designs that patterned his body. He did enjoy the clan, the frequent water magic squabbles over small things such as who had the best magic, or who could swim the fastest, but there always seemed to be something missing, whether it was the longing for a soft breeze to blow through his scales, or lying on sweet, green grass, Cyclone always felt slightly out of place, never fully content.

As soon as he was old enough to fly and fight by himself, Cyclone left his birth Lair. He flew for days over the the wide, frost coated sea until he eventually sighted land. Over the course of his sea journey, he had been joined by a light green gull.

It was always near him, but never so close that he could touch it, it acted as a shadow. Just out of his line of sight, yet constantly there at the corner of his eye. He grew used to its presence and threw it fish when he preyed upon them, which it seemed to enjoy and occasionally spun a circle of joy when it received the food.

The worst thing, Cyclone had realised, about travelling over sea, was the storms. Three massive, lightning plagued storms floated past him, throwing him off course for hours at a time. During this, the Gull would stay directly behind him, shielded by Cyclones thickly muscled wings as he battled the storm.

Cyclone realised that the solution to this problem was simple, swim instead if fly, it was much easier too. Although, whenever he thought about this, he remembered the gull behind him.

It couldn't swim, and it would die out in these storms. It looked like a messenger gull to him, a gull unsuited to such harsh conditions. He made a pact then, a pact to protect this small creature until it would be fine on its own, no matter the cost.

When he reached the land, he could see something completely new to him.

Grass.

Everything he could see was green. From the grass, to the insects, to the prey and the trees. The trees were the strangest to him, they were a rich, dark green, unlike the light green of the Water Flight domain seaweed. He landed on the grass and lay down, wings stretched around him to rest.

It was just as he had hoped; warm and comfortable, soothing his aching muscles. The Gull landed on a branch just ahead, staring at him with piercing ice blue eyes. He placed his head on the warm ground and looked up.

At some point, the sun had set and Night had flown across the sky with his blanket of stars. A sweet smelling breeze flew through the air, carrying the scents of prey and other dragons from within the forest. Cyclone sighed and closed his eyes, happy with his progress so far.

Cyclone awoke to a dragon prodding him with their sharp claws. He leapt to his feet, wings splayed in defence in case of an attack. None came.

Instead, a dark Skydancer stood before him, her regal head held high above her blue plumage. He blinked once and shook his head, folding his wings against his back in the process.

"Who are you?" The female asked, butterfly wings raised out from her back. Cyclone stiffened as he replied his name. There had been stories floating through his birthclan before he had left of the rogues that patrolled the ReedCleft Asscent.

The Skydancer regarded him with a smile and said "I'm Branwen, and no, we are not Rogues." There was a touch of amusement in her tone, "Come, I'll show you the Clan."

Cyclone took a step back. She had read his mind, he was sure of it. He had felt a soft nudge in his thoughts before she had spoken. Yet, that was impossible, wasn't it? He never did pay attention in the Flight Powers lesson, maybe it was a Wind Clan thing?

He followed her through the trees and up to the full glory of the Wind Flight Territory. The Reeds.

Immediately the gusts of wind threw him backwards, pummelling him from all sides as if forcing him into the tree cover. The gull had finally come to him and was pressed in between the Imperial's thick set shoulder blades.

Branwen laughed at his reaction and spread her wings to take flight. The wind appeared to brush through her coat like a soft breeze, ruffling her feathers gently.

As she lifted into the sky, Cyclone attempted to follow. As soon as he came out of the trees, he was once again attacked by waves of angry wind currents.

"Don't fight it. Embrace the power!" A voice shouted from above. It wasn't Branwen; it was more masculine. He could faintly see the male wheeling through the air above him, although something seemed to distort his vision as he looked.

Cyclone narrowed his eyes and spread his wings again. In a second, he dashed forwards and caught the wind, rising upwards and backwards in an insane spiral. He had no control of his movements what so ever. He just kept spinning.

He then felt a medium sized shape land on his back. The male. "Hi, I'm StarStealer, by the way. I'm the Matriarch here." His voice was airy, full of life.

Cyclone tensed as StarStealer arched the Imperial's wings, straightened them out and tilted then downwards. "This is how to fly here. Try to fight the wind and it will fight back," he explained, making further adjustments to Cyclone's wings.

As he leapt off Cyclone focused on keeping his wings as he had been shown, tipping the edges downwards so the wind rushed over them rather than through them. He spun to find the two dragons, seeing them waiting a few dragon lengths behind. He flapped his wings testingly and headed towards them, feeling the surging power all around him.
