Biography
Kokuzokuneishin
;; haunter | they/them/theirs
"I heard some hatchlings whispering over dinner today. Stories of a local ghost, one they called "Kokuzo". They say that this ghostly tundra appears right before disaster, surrounded by misty lights, and disappears when the problem has been averted or run its course. I could not tell if they whispered out of fear or respect." And extra piece of parchment is stuffed between these pages, containing an additional anecdote: Disaster nearly struck today. The hatchling called Rinn (mischievous little blighter) ran into the mists at dusk and was not seen for a long time. Search parties went out, and Blue allowed me to tag along. But as I walked, I suddenly found myself separated from the group. The darkness was closing in around when a misty white light appeared in the bamboo. They looked just as described - a tundra of white and black, surrounded by ghostly lights. They ghosted away through the bamboo and I could not keep up, not matter how hard I ran. When they finally disappeared, I was left in the dark - and I heard a small cry. Rinn had gotten herself trapped in sinking sand by the edge of the river. It took all my strength (and one of my nicer shawls) to get her free. I was just pondering how to return to the Inn when Chinook stepped out of the mists. Behind her, a single misty light winked out. And she lead us home. I am a storyteller, and so I am predisposed to enjoy a good story. That being said, I do not believe in ghosts. But I believe in Kokuzokuneishin."

Information Name // Kokuzokuneishin -- Meaning of name // unknown Alignment // Neutral Class // Unknown Personality // Kokuzo, as they are called by locals, is as mysterious as the Crosswinds themselves. They appear in times of danger, when a hatchling has strayed too far into the mists or when a storm threatens to topple the inn. Some regard their appearance as a curse, a harbinger of doom. Others see them as a benevolent warning, a spirit trying its best to help. Whatever their purpose, they serve it dutifully. -- Likes // unknown -- Dislikes // unknown Background // BACKGROUND -- History // Kokuzo was the second dragon Blue ran into at the Crosswinds. That first time, there was no disaster - just apparition in the night, a ghostly tundra surrounded by glowing lanterns. Though they scared Blue half to death, Chinook swears by their benevolent nature. In fact, Chinook seems rather taken with Kokuzo. Both come and go like the breeze, and there are no few rumors that Chinook might be closer to Kokuzo's realm than that of the living. Though Kokuzo is now a rare sight around the Inn, Blue ensures that a ghostly white lantern is always hanging close to the Inn's gate - he couldn't tell you why, only that it feels right. Chinook assures him that Kokuzo appreciates the gesture. |
