""Here in the forest dark and deep
I offer you eternal sleep""

━━━━━━━━━━━━ b i o ━━━━━━━━━━━━

Elysia is the Head Exalter of the Tribe. Whilst others say prayers and sing songs for their exaltees, Elysia takes the chosen dragon quietly under her wing and guides them into the forest. Often accompanied by the Beast, it may take days for her to return, alone.
She always assures worried mothers and siblings that the journey was peaceful and free from danger, but some of the wiser dragons don't trust her. Maybe it's the black skulls hanging from her, or the black wraps hiding her crystalline features, or the constant feeling of being watched by her. Even wiser dragons fear her and her uncanny knowledge of the deep jungle and the Glademother, despite being Arcane. Dragons have followed her, and gotten hopelessly lost, only to be found and brought back to the Tribe by the Beast.
Rumours fly like crows around her, and dragons instinctively avoid her. She doesn't mind the solitude though.

Modremoth and Pyre trust her, so the others can only sit and hope and pray that the exaltees are in fact serving the Glademother, and not rotting under the roots of an old tree.

Elysia controls two wraith hounds, who follow her everywhere.Often throwing them her picked-over bones, Elysia enjoys their company over the judgmental Tribe. Despite knowing their feelings about her, she waits, knowing their loyalties will turn as soon as they need her assistance.

They always do in the end.

""Elysia""
Bones rattling, she turned around. Her hound perked up at her feet. Hiding the item she was making behind her back, she turned around to fully face the intruder.
Pyre stood over her, her oppressive ferality connecting with Elysia's own and challenging it. They stood as equals, but today Pyre made her dominance obvious. Conceding defeat, Elysia slid over to the wildclaw, playing with the skulls around her neck. Spying the hatchling between her legs, Elysia grinned beneath her mask. The hatchling cowered, gripping onto Pyre, before she forcefully pushed him in front of her. Placing a foot on his tail so he wouldn't run, Pyre growled, before turning and disappearing into the forest. Despite her size and metal legs, she was silent as any deadly predator. Elysia loved her.

Turning her many eyed gaze back on the petrified hatchling, she sidled over to him. Standing frozen, he gulped as she inspected him all over. Despite his fear, he held himself up proud and strong, a child's strength in a little body. Elysia crooned softly as she circled.
Strong body.
Nature eyes.
Tail's a little stubby, but his wing length makes up for it.
Mother will love him.
Smiling, she headed to a different part of the forest clearing, beckoning him to follow. The forest yawned in front of her, giving way to darker, thicker jungle. The Shrieking Wilds. When he turned tail and ran, Elysia quickly followed, quickly catching up. Popping up in front of him was unfair, but she loved scaring the witless ones. Herding him in the opposite direction, they finally entered the jungle.

The hatchling had finally stopped fighting, and accepted his destiny. They'd been travelling for a while now, never slowing. The treetops above rustled and screamed with the native animals of the wilds. Her hounds had followed her, their presence a guarantee no beast would bother them... except one. The hatchling still hadn't clued on that they were followed, but Elysia knew. She'd seen him and his ghostly companions. Of course he followed them. He always did. Completely at one with the forest, he blended in so perfectly that one would think the forest moved with them. His silence was soothing, and welcome amongst the uproar of the canopy. The Beast slowly overtook them, and lead onward. The hatchling whimpered when he noticed the extra company, but quickly fell silent. The terrain was difficult to navigate, especially for a little hatchling, and company mattered little when you didn't know where to place your feet.

Soon dusk started to filter through the trees, stirring up a fine fog that dulled even the loudest cries. The silence was intoxicating, and Elysia closed her eyes in satisfaction. The cool tendrils gently traced her skin as she welcomed it's cool embrace. The hatchling wouldn't stop shivering, and was starting to lag. It took a few nips at the heels from the hounds to hurry him up. Moving through the forest in the muted silence was beautifully eerie, and she loved it.

When night fell, the Beast's friends began to glow to light the way. Elysia welcomed their ethereal company, and began to hum gently. Soon the music gave way to lyrics, as the Beast lent his baritone rumble to the chant. Soon the rough chant echoed through the jungle, piercing the fog like the ghostly light that surrounded them. The hatchling tried intently to listen to the song, but kept tripping, both on the leaf litter and on the words. Soon he was almost broken, head hanging dejectedly low. He was too tired for fear, and his little body ached with hunger and fatigue. Elysia's smile grew ever wider. The less he struggled, the easier the rite would be.

The clearing gave no hints to it's existence; it almost seemed to apparate onto them. Elysia walked into the opening with the ecstatic relief of someone returning home. It had been a long day, and the relief she felt at entering the clearing was apparent. The hatchling only realised when the pressing trees on either side of him ceased to suffocate him. Looking around, his miserable journey faded as he tried to fathom this place.

Warmly lit up by candles that never seemed to melt, and dotted with carefully maintained groups of violets, the clearing seemed open and... homey. Watching Elysia roll around in the violets, their gentle smell permeating the area, it felt warm as well. The place soothed his senses, as if a great god was watching over him and smiling. In the middle of the clearing was a massive tree, larger than he had ever seen, larger than all the trees surrounding the clearing. And yet it still felt...young, despite the fact he couldn't see the top. It was a sapling of the Great Behemoth, a tree of legend. Mama Allegra at the hatchery had told him of it, and its connection to the Gladekeeper.
Mother.
He could feel her call now. A primal instinct within him drove him towards the tree. Standing on the stone slab near the tree, he sang out to her blinding presence. Elysia moved up behind him, watching his face light up with happiness.

Another dragon finally entered, after waiting for the hatchling to take his place. She was a dragon of light, though her face was veiled with shadow. Her body was black and sleek, but her wings glowed with the light of the candles. Hiding the glint of metal behind her back, she took her place behind the hatchling.

Elysia began to croon again, the same song she sang before. This time it felt different. The channel of love and light that was pounding through the hatchling opened itself up to Elysia, the Beast, and the stranger. Their moves felt heavy and liquid, like the earth moving through them. Power ran through their veins, and Elysia breathed it in with a drunken sigh. The Gladekeeper had opened up the path for her new child, and he was finally ready.

The stranger moved slowly, while the hatchling was distracted. His eyes were closed, and his heart beat against his chest, flapping like a caged bird begging to be let free. His very soul fluttered and pulled towards her magnetic presence. And yet his body pulled him back, connecting him to the tangible plane like a prisoner's chain. The knife flashedin the light, a sharp pull tugged at his neck, and the hatchling's spirit burst free, galloping towards his Mother, screaming in ecstasy and delight. He was free, he was going home.
The Gladekeeper welcomed him in with a mothers embrace, as other hatchlings gathered around to welcome him. The song of life trickled through, loud and yet inextricably sweet as the image of her faded. The blinding light settled as she turned and walked away, thanking the devouts for their sacrifice. Struggling to hold on to the sweet nectar of her power, Elysia bathed in her warm glory, before the final tendril snapped and she returned to the real world. Panting, the stranger cleaned her knife in the grass, before sheathing it and pulling down her hood. The Beast greeted her, and returned to the solace of his trees, where he stayed and waited for his turn. Elysia shook herself clean, violet petals falling off her, before looking at the hatchling.

His body lay collapsed on the altar, face still lit with rapture, blood flowing down the grooves of the rock to pool at the roots of the sapling. The sapling was already responding to the sacrifice, its veins glowing with the nourishment flowing through them. Gladekeeper would certainly enjoy the blood of her children, providing her power and her wild domain a burst of strength and life. The stranger bowed at the sapling, before pulling out materials from underneath her cloak. Ointment, salve, bandages, seeds, tools. Elysia moved up and began to rub the body down, chanting as she went.

""Mother, we your children welcome you
As we come from you, we protect you, and we return to you

May this child always be ready to come to you
with clean hands and straight eyes,
May his life sustain yours, as you give us ours
so when our time fades, as the fading sunset,
our spirits will come to you without shame.""

The Beast began to dig, as the two bound the body up in the bandages, wrapping the seeds and soil up within them. The stranger picked him up and carried his body to the Beast's grave, next to the violets. Elysia always loved her violets. And soon, this child would sustain his own garden of violets, like his eternal brothers before and after him.
For death sustained life, and life came from death.

Once the grave was covered, the companions turned, and left to their own lives. The Beast patrolled his jungle, keeping watch over his clearing. The stranger pulled her hood up, and turned, and left. Her place remained at the Tribe, with a false smile and a false identity.
And Elysia halted and watched the clearing. Her violets rustled, the bodies beneath singing to her. The blood soaked in to the earth around the tree. And a gentle wind blew, rustling her skulls, carrying a mother's kiss. Elysia smiled and thanked her mother, before turning and beginning the long journey home.

""My spirit will come to you.""
