Biography
Aiuevhorvex
Non-Draconic Outsider
Solitary | Skittish | Fable
The Greatwyrm’s Breach is not the same as the Starfall Isles, not by any stretch of the imagination. It is far more plain, and devoid of the mysterious life that blossoms in the Arcanist’s forests. The dusty ground explodes underfoot with every step, and the eyes in the dark that once blended in with the glowing canopy of the Starwood Strand now lurk in the open, cold and calculating with nothing between them and you but the darkness of night.
Somehow, Aiue has survived this change and adapted to it more keenly than anyone anticipated, albeit as more of a wraith than a real being. Her earliest memories date back to the glowing blue and purple forests in the Starfall Isles, caught in her mind in the palest, briefest flashes that scream of nothing but creation. They are no more, though, and instead she has the dust and the dark to call home, even when others encroach.
Once, long ago, she defended this territory mightily, not because she could but because she felt she must. If someone else were to claim her land, she had a dim sense that she would be cheated by it. But gradually, as clans around her expanded, pressing into her world, she let them in and ghosted around them. It was the hatchlings that convinced her to do so, playing by sun or moon, rolling through the dirt and squawking at one another. She tried to play their games, especially the ones that would take to the skies to roughhouse, and some liked her. They carried her back to their clans in the form of secret whispers to other hatchlings: “I met a beast today, and do you know what she did? Well, you see…” There were others, though, that feared her, feared her wild mane and glittering, sharpened claws. Those hatchlings carried her back not as whispers, but as tearful confessions to their families, confessions that they strayed too far and saw a terrible beast who nearly devoured them, though Aiue did no such thing.
The latter type of hatchling has created the reputation that now filters hazily through the Frok. Aiue does not interact directly with this clan, her keen sense of self-preservation keeping her away from its heart and thus away from Prosperina’s greedy clutches, but she watches from the dark crevices of the Breach, longing for the company of someone, anyone. Something about the way the Frok dragons cling to each other unsettles her, but at least they have someone to cling to, and she would give anything to have companionship in her life. Better yet, lying in her nest during the heat of the day, she dreams of the Starwood Strand and the eyes in the trees, and she remembers that once, they were her family.
Occasionally, the exact words come back to her. They were her pack.
