Biography
After Sam joined the clan, some other members of the beastclan tracking/hunting division of the clan tried to train her in basic combat skills, but found that she was "untrainable." "She fights too much like a ridgeback to fit in," they said. So, with simple solutions always in mind, Vanmra had her outfitted to be like a ridgeback. Courtesy of the typical ridgeback fighting style, she always comes out of battles drenched in blood, and so has earned the nickname "bloody sam."
Sam is known among the clan as an efficient hunter. Her prey mostly consists of the smaller creatures that wander the Zephyr Steppes, but she's fully capable of taking out much more dangerous prey. Because of this, she was sent as the lead member of a scouting expedition to the Southern Icefields to track an unidentified Longneck clan that had been sighted passing to the South through the steppes. Though the tracks were wiped out in a snowstorm, a local guide was able to take them to some cave systems called the Snowspire Caverns where the longnecks might have been hiding, and the team decided to search there for a while.
... They found more than just longnecks in that cave. In the deep places in the icefields, dark things dwell, imprisoned by the Icewarden or hiding beyond memory. The team encountered one of them in the caverns below. It was a massive, tentacled, carnivorous beast, with hundreds of look-alike servants bringing it food from above... Including the poor longnecks, and a collection of orphaned eggs. Sam had so wanted to kill the vile thing, to destroy this evil they had encountered and to protect the clans above from the harm which may soon befall them. But it was simply not possible. Perhaps they could have killed it, but the risks were too great, and if they failed here then no one would ever hear of it. It was better to find help, and return with greater numbers. The beast was eventually killed by another team of explorers, but Sam never forgot what she had seen, and she knew that there was worse to be found in the world, if a brave soul was only to go looking.
After a lengthy discussion, Sam convinced her mate and four of their children to join her on a quest to rid the world of such dangers. They founded what is now known as the Snowspire Company, and they are looking to increase their numbers. Their mission: to root out all the evil things which still lurk in the shadows of the world, and to keep their homelands safe from danger.
