Dragon Log

Born to two dragons who have sworn never to part ways, she and her brother were destined to be well-loved from the start. The only question now is which of them will take a name in keeping with their father's line, and which with their mother's--well, that and what on Sornieth that odd, nasty looking Mirror is doing sniffing around her mother. Perhaps he needs a swift kick in the snout? Or maybe the Hippalectryon, her gift from her mother, can do something to help....

....In the end, she did not need any help from her new familiar after all. The annoying dark Mirror stuck his nose into her nest a few hours after she was born.... just as she was exercising her new limbs. Her father and siblings are extremely pleased with the kick she gave him, and Riddle hasn't been seen near her mother--or the rest of the family--since....

11-25-16: After some careful thought, this Skydancer has finally chosen her name. In keeping with her coloring, and her father's favorite group of spells--and in honor of the "kick that became legend," she has chosen a name that represents extreme force, and yet still sounds somewhat pretty... at least to her. Meet Bombarda Maxima!

1-24-17: Getting into the spirit of the "season," Bombarda decided to follow in her mother's footsteps and join the Sornieth Winter Games. She isn’t sure exactly how well she did, considering where some of her rocks ended up, but at least she gave everyone a good show, right? ( )

2-1-17: Entertaining or not--and it certainly was entertaining to everyone who watched--Bombarda was unable to achieve a medal in the Event. Confidence is not always everything, after all, and the Judges were not as impressed with some of her shots as the crowd was--quite likely because they got nowhere near the target. Still, she had fun, and has found an entirely new outlet for her rambunctious behavior. Of course, the rest of the Clan is not as happy about all the rocks flying around, but perhaps once she learns to hit the target they will forgive her all those little mishaps....

2-21-17: The Hippalectryon has Awakened! Bombarda is extremely happy for her friend and playmate. Now, what shall she name him?...

9-2-17: Naming is a recurring problem in the Clan, but not one that usually bothers the unnamed familiars--or dragons. The Hippalectryon is patiently waiting for his friend to come up with a suitable name...and will wait for years, if he must. In the meantime, Bombarda is enjoying herself with various other pursuits, including a trip to the Ashfall Waste for the Flameforger's Festival. She traveled there with her brother, Alakazam, and had a lot of fun at the Fire Forge Stall on the final day of the Festival.... ( )

2-1-18: Bombarda has entered the Sornieth Winter Games again, and following her now established pattern from last Crystalline Gala, she chose the Curling Event. The rest of her team does not seem nearly as enthusiastic, however, and Bar really isn’t sure how well they are going to do, with a crabky Coatl and a Dark Mage Tundra joining her and her brother Alakazam in the Pit. Hopefully the other two will stick to the game, and not go off on their own tangents… ( )

2-5-18: Despite Bombarda's fears, the team pulled together, and placed rather high. Unfortunately, they were not quite high enough to win a Medal. Ah, well, there is always next year...

1-28-19: And next year has come, all too quickly! After a bit of jostling at the sign-up tent for the Sornieth Winter Games Curling Event, Bombarda and her familiar team seem to be ready for the game. ( ) It’s time to see if all that practice will pay off…

2-8-19: Practice does, sometimes, pay off: The team has won a Medal at last! True, it's the Bronze, but a medal is still a medal, and there's always next year for the Gold... ( , )

1-30-20: The Crystalline Gala, and the Sornieth Winter Games, have returned for another year, and once again, the Curling Team has taken to the Pit. This year, they hope to bring home something better than a Bronze Medal. Unfortunately, there is the distinct possibility that their efforts may be hampered by exhaustion and anger, due to the experiments performed by another Clan Mate, which resulted in half the team fighting a “Fire Forest”’s attempts to overtake the caves all last night… ( )

2-2-20: After the mess back at the Lair, it is almost a relief for all those who competed in the Winter Games this year to indulge in the (relatively) simple task of breaking down camp while waiting for their results… ( )

2-7-20: Whether or not the exhaustion of Jasper and Alakazam was significant--or if Nebula’s fury at having her potions stores raided by her own Goddaughter had an impact on the team’s score--is now a moot point. The team was blown away by some very fierce competition, and simply could not make it to the Winner’s Podium this year. Bar cannot be too unhappy, however, as it was obviously superior skill that beat them, and not silly mistakes. Perhaps next year they won’t have quite so strong a field to compete against, and can finally get the Gold….

1-29-21: Once again, the now well established Curling Team has entered the Sornieth Winter Games. Bombarda is so excited for the Competition that she has even dressed up for it this year! ( )

Unfortunately, the team itself is not nearly as excited. In fact, Jasper is somewhat distracted, Nebula is fuming, and Alakazam decided to make a slight detour while fetching the team’s brooms. Bombarda appreciates the effort her brother made to get the team some truly excellent cocoa, but she really wishes it hadn’t taken him so long to acquire it. Especially since Nebula’s usual temper has grown worse due to the wait. And to top it off, Jasper decided to use magic to keep his drink hot, which means that his energy may not be at full strength. This is definitely not a good way to start the match… ( )

2-5-21: Despite Bombarda’s misgivings, the team has actually done rather well. In fact, they won the Silver Medal! ( ) Bar is so pleased at the result, she has nominated Alakazam to receive the prize for all of them. After all, it could very well have been his cocoa that gave them the extra boost to win, even if Nebula disagrees. ( )

And now that the team has won both Bronze and Silver, could Gold be in their future? Bombarda can only hope…
