Eden; Assassination

It was another one of those days. Eden picked up his shotgun and dusted away the fine particles accumulated on it. He was sent to assassinate a sorcerer of the Lightning clan, for whatever reasons he didn't know or care. It was the same as always- he'll get an order, he'll follow that order, and he'll be done with it. Nothing special, nothing more. Putting on his cowl, he set out to find the sorcerer. Another one of those days, he sighed, as he swiftly disappeared into the murky mists of laughing trees and gossiping brambles.

Electricity was alive in every corner in this vast, deserted expanse of the valley. It was a chaotic place of scattered machinery parts and construction tools, with the constant clanging of metal on metal echoing across the thick, hazy air. Despite the advanced technology of the region, Eden was faster than light could travel and as soundless as a shadow. Within seconds, he made it past the high security of lightning guards, the watchful eyes of the Stormcatcher, and the hundred dragons gathering food and materials around the region. What could he say? He was the master of stealth and assassination, as well as a grouchy familiar who couldn't stand his ticklish scarf.

Reaching his targeted destination, he hid behind a boulder that was close to the clan's entrance. Apparently the Lightning Region didn't really have any trees he could camouflage in, which was a real pity, considering his love for sniping victims from trees. Either way, all he had to do was to wait for his target to come out, like they did on a daily basis. How should he kill his target? Instant death is usually the best choice, but then again, electrocution sounds like something a dragon of the Lightning region would prefer. Maybe he should-

“Hi!” A fae suddenly appeared before him, causing him to rise up immediately from the spot. He would've already instinctively vanished into the sky if he had sensed danger long ago, but this fae appeared to be friendly. Or, to put it simply, not dangerous. But the fact that this fae was able to shift at such a speed stumped him.

“Woah, I'm sorry I startled you! I didn't mean it!” The fae said apologetically, though a bit startled herself at the stranger's sudden movement.

You didn't, Eden wanted to remark, but suddenly it downed upon him. The way the blue light was dancing around her... the sorcerer.

Eden put his hand on the shotgun hiding in his cloak.

“My name is Tanzanite! What's yours?”

His blood was screaming in words. Kill. Kill her. He could feel his inner demon clawing at his stomach, begging to be unleashed. He decided to answer her last words, as a good bye.

“Eden.”

“Eden?” she said, sounding skeptical. “Hmm, you don't look like a... Eden person to me. More of a Zeref person, if you know what I mean.”

For some reason, that remark seemed to clog all the murderous intent in his head, and replaced them with something he couldn't quite comprehend. Something... strange.

A Zeref person, huh? “Then I guess you're more of a Lucy person,” Eden replied sarcastically. Two can play it that way, Tanzanite.

“Wow! How'd you know?” she said, amazed. Apparently she took it the other way round. “No one in my clan even watches that anime... it's pleasant to know someone that watches it too! High five!”

Shoot. This can't be happening. The greatest assassin is going to lose his kill because of an anime.
“Right...” Eden said as he uncertainly high fived back.

“Woohoo! Anyway, what brought you our clan? Normally we don't get many visitors. Did you need something? Some dragons for sale in the hatchery, perhaps?”

Eden's hand was pressed tight onto his shotgun. I have to do it. I have to.
“Actually, I was just out to gather food, and decided to take a break,” Eden said through gritted teeth.

“Really? I was just going to do the same thing! Maybe we could go gather resources for our clans together!” she smiled.

Oh, great. Look what happened to a simple assassination plan. It was just another one of those days, and yet..
“Then it's settled,” Eden replied, trying to sound like he wasn't cursing at himself under his breath.

-

The two faes spent the evening gathering food and materials together, all the while chatting about the most random things. Of course, Eden might have considered assassinating her during their gathering trip, if only there weren't a hundred other dragons around the area gathering resources as well.
But it was the first time Eden had actually had a real conversation with someone. Someone who actually spoke to him... like a friend would.

“That was really fun! And it was really nice getting to know you.” Tanzanite smiled. “Maybe we can hang out every once in a while. You know, to relieve the tension after a hard and stressful day of work.”

I wish we could. Unfortunately, I live in a different world where dragons play and hang out all day long, and work in order to get rid of the tension of boredom. Also, I'm an assassin that was sent here to kill you. Nice to meet you.
“I live in a different world- you wouldn't understand. But if fate wishes it, then I hope we meet again someday.”

“That's too bad, I guess... but see? You do talk like Zeref! Woah, I can see the resemblance now.”

No. My name is Eden. I'm an Eden person. Don't confuse overpowered entities with me, lady.
“Zeref The Mafiaso. Sounds logical.”

“Huh?”

“Anyway, let's meet again- someday. If the prickly plants ask, tell them I'm from the South. They'll know what it means.”

“What an oddball you are, Eden.”

As if time stopped for a moment, Eden vanished into the darkened, hazy sky faster than the eyes could've seen, leaving a confused Tanzanite to ponder who Eden really was.

Flying across the night sky, Eden tried to come up with a good excuse for the mission he had unfortunately failed. Chuckling at another one of his great ideas, he vanished into the skies, completely hidden by its dark embrace.
It was another one of those days.

Eden II

I am no god, and I am no man either.
I have ended countless lives, and I felt no remorse.
I knew nothing for the reason of my existence.
But when the riddled years went by as I braced countless experiences,
It became clearer and clearer to me.
I exist to serve you.
And to serve you... I shall.

Eden of the Darkness

The day the Shadows took young Eden into their clan, they could feel
something... amiss, in those glassy, distant eyes. He never talked, but did as
he was told. He never smiled, but he was loyal. He was like their puppet, but
he wasn't, either. What truly is he? The Shadows would so often ask
themselves, yet their unease would always be answered with silence.
Among the whispers of the Shadows,
Eden was believed to be able to cross between the dimensions of time,
though the truth remained a mystery. It was also rumored that he could
move faster than light travel and assassinate his targets in the blink of
an eye, as though the world held no boundaries against his devastating
force. At least he's on our side, ...right? The Shadows were worried. For
the first time in their lives, they didn't know- they couldn't. They couldn't
make out what was truly behind that cowl. Behind that name he bore.
Behind the Ace of Spades, Eden.

The Light and the Darkness

Two mighty foes clash in a mighty battle
Their swords were bound in an endless fight
None could surpass them in a single sight
Nor trespass them in a fury's bind
They were bloodied, weary, wounded and dry
And as the day drew dawn in a second light,
The reflection of their grins gleamed in the blazing sky.
It's nice to know you, child of Light.
