Biography
Esequiel
In theory, Esequiel's position as spiritual counselor means it is her job to calm down exaltees before their exaltation ceremony, to sit down with them and discuss what it means to represent the Clan of the Striking Bolt before the Stormcatcher, and to discuss their strengths and how they might best serve the Stormcatcher.
But in practice, Esequiel is a total religious fanatic, and her counseling sessions are more like cult indoctrination. Her counseling client usually leave her office in the temple in a daze, more confused by what they've just heard than anything else, while Esequiel waves them a cheery goodbye with a "Praise the Stormcatcher!" And, well, nobody complains, because they're dazed into silence.
Ravadove has scolded Esequiel about this many times in an attempt to convince her to tone it down, but Esequiel just can't help it. She has a deep passion for her religion and a deep passion for the Stormcatcher, and she just wants her clients to love the Stormcatcher as much as she does -- even if her way of showing it may not be the way the Stormcatcher Himself would most prefer.
Esequiel has a coarse relationship with her own twin sister, Threve. Threve is a total foodie who loves to stuff her face with meat. Meanwhile, Esequiel is obsessed with honoring the Stormcatcher, including the clan rule which says not to take a single nibble without stopping to thank Him -- which Threve never stops to do. You wouldn't think their relationship would be torn apart by something so small, but Esequiel's fanaticism runs deep.
When she's not busy praising the Stormcatcher, or convincing everybody else to praise the Stormcatcher, Esequiel likes to sit on the roof of the temple at night and watch the stars. It reminds her of how small she is in the world.
