Shiroe

Shiroe started her life as a sacrifice to Shadowbinder, but when her parents were offered to trade her for a water hatchling they were willing to let her go. Her new clan, Crystal Springs, needed a shadowling to complete a magic circle so she is now training to become an elemental mage.

Raised as an exaltee, Shiroe is very meek and tends to do anything she is asked to without thinking for herself. This has gained her many a scolding, for a mage should always be independent and mindful. While her quiet nature is a headache for the instructors, it does help her learn quickly. They still can't help but worry that her strong, ingrained mindset of doing all she is asked to will lead to trouble.

Shiroe is one of only three dragons that are being sheltered from the main lair entirely. In her case, it is to protect her until she is able to fend for herself. She is becoming friends with Spirit, a young skydancer who was born weak and is sheltered for his health's sake.

The third sheltered one is more of a prisoner, and most dragons of the clan do not know of her existence. Shiroe knows, for she has glimpsed the Cursed One when snooping. Scared to be found out, she dares not speak of the red glaring eyes in the deep cellar. She remembers those eyes very clearly, for they are in her dreams every night. Sometimes there is a voice, too, soft as velvet. The eyes are her friend in the dreams, and that voice is so, so beautiful. Shiroe longs to go back, back down to the friendly red eyes, but the stairs don't lead to that basement anymore.

The Voice wants her to do something, but she can never quite hear the words. There is always some kind of rippling wall behind the young fae and the eyes, something that twists the sound. But each night she understands a bit more, and each night her purpose seems a bit clearer. Someone is twisting the wonderful Voice with a barrier, and that someone is one of her instructors. The eyes smiled when she had repeated this, so she had clearly gotten it right.

Whoever was stopping her friend from being free needs to stop. And, night by night, Shiroe was learning just how she would stop them. She was a good student, for The Eyes were her deity now. As she had learned from the moment she was born, obedience to your master is everything.
