Pina'Relaine "Raine" - The Survivor
Silent Guardian
—–
It's been a long time since her days as a Plague dragon, and Raine never found herself wanting to return. She had been tormented there, tortured and betrayed, and left to die- wounded to the point where she had given up her will to live, her will to survive. Until a group of dragons found her dying in the ash, and rescued her.

She hated them, for a time. Hated that they hadn't let her wasted away in peace. That was the Plague heritage in her, the part of her that told her she was weak and those who were defeated were a waste of time. But her rescuers taught her the ways of fire, how she could let the ember inside her grow into a larger flame or fall down to ash at the power of her will. She eventually chose life - though she struggled with her choice over and over and over again, time after time.

She never spoke to her Fire Family - nary a single word. She was capable of speech, had been quite talkative in her youth- but now, now she just wanted to listen. Talking had lost her her first family, attacked by a wandering tribe of Mirrors, and now she found herself at ease in her silence.

Raine breathed out her nose as she sat, gazing peacefully at the waters before her. Her Fire Family had chosen to disperse into the world of Sornieth as peacefully as they had come together. She had no hatred nor regrets towards them, not since the day they met and the time she wished for death, and she knew that she would miss them dearly. She would miss the Delos lair and all its inhabitants dearly - but the time to leave had come, and she had found a new come, amidst the waves, of all places.

Never had she thought that she'd leave Pestilence for Flame and Flame for Wave - but here she was, amidst the rocks overlooking a turbulent, yet peaceful, sea.

Another breath out, another breath in.

"Peaceful, isn't it?" The soft voice gently interjected into her peaceful gazing, and Raine turned to look at her companion, nodding in her only form of communication.

A smile from the blue Pearlcatcher was her reward, and Raine felt her heart fluttering slightly, pleased in her choice of friend, in her choice of a new home. Lynaril, Lyn, had welcomed her with open arms and outstretched wings. She had welcomed the wandering mute into the Alliance, introducing her to friends and family without caring about her lack of speech.

Kraken, the Druid's friend and fellow Matriarch, had simply smiled and passed her parchment and charcoal, asking only her name- her eyes filled with understanding.

It seemed in a time of change, she had found a new place to call home. Hopefully for a long time to come.

And as long as she was welcomed - she would stand as a Guardian at their doors, protecting them in the silence she kept herself to, for there was no need to break the peace she had been gifted.

lore from old clan
rescued
—–
it was a dark night in delos. it was a new moon, clear skies. oddly quiet. delos had a rather uneventful day. some mating pairs left the clan to breed, and some pairs from other flights came to delos to lay their nests. as such, the nest guards were on high alert. peace normally exudes delos, so there isn't much to worry about, but whenever outsider dragons come to lay their nests in delos, the lair guards take extra precautions in case an intruder plots an attack on the clan.

on that dark night, a battle between dragons could be heard from far off. the lair guards quietly alerted the nest guards and the protectors in case action would have to be taken. it isn't often that a non-friendly battle ensues near the secluded delos clan. what started as a quiet word between guards and protectors soon turned into a quiet panic among the clan. midrin thought it wise to try to find out what was happening, so he set off with swiller, davnan, forsyth, sunala, and elis into the endless night. he knew he couldn't be too cautious.

it seemed as if whoever caused the disturbance didn't want to be found. shortly after leaving the clan, no sounds of battle could be heard. the night was silent again. only the flowing lava and cracking magma could be heard. the group slowed their flight and landed on the scorched earth.

the group sat in silence as midrin closed his eyes and bowed his head to the earth. he seemed to be meditating upon something. the group stared at him, knowingly yet uncertain at the same time, until they saw his eyes flick open and his wings flutter, launching himself straight up into the sky. the rest followed suit in his pursuit, his flight filled with urgency. suddenly, midrin made a near vertical descent into a long abandoned grove, filled with dead, wilted, scorched trees. there was absolutely no sign of life where midrin had taken his crew. the land was covered with ashes.

no one would have seen what laid underneath a pile of soot and volcanic ash if not for whatever spirit midrin had called upon to lead him here.

with a flap of his wings, the ash scattered and revealed a pearlcatcher holding onto her last breaths. there was no life left in her eyes. she had given up. she was covered with gashes; it was hard to even tell what her natural color and genes were. half of her hair was ripped off. elis saw the urgency of the situation and rushed over. he reached into his knapsack and pulled out a large variety of herbs. he started chanting positioning the herbs on the nearly lifeless dragon's body. anxiety could be sensed in elis's voice. he worried he wouldn't be enough for this dragon. however, there wasn't time for him to collect his energies. he had to put everything he could muster into his craft. after what seemed like a lifetime, the larger wounds on her body started to seal. they wouldn't miraculously heal overnight, of course, but any progress meant the world in this situation.

elis let out a sigh of relief and pulled some kind of elixer from his bag. he poured a tiny amount onto a leaf he already had out, and rubbed it slowly over the dragon's head. her eyes began flickering, and soon after they stayed open. she still didn't have the strength to speak, but she was alive and even from the state she was in before, she was markedly better now. her breathing was more regulated.

"don't worry. we're here to help," forsyth softly stated. "we're going to take you back to our lair to heal you up, okay?"

unable to muster any words, the dragon slowly blinked in understanding. swiller and elis gently hoisted her up onto davnan's back, and back into the silent night they flew.

midrin flew ahead of the rest to ask that the members of delos keep to their quarters. "everything is okay on our end," he stated to fallen. "we just have a serious and grave matter right now. send all the healers to the lair entrance."

as the rest arrived, they were greeted by the various healers of delos. they hurried her into the healing chamber to help rehabilitate her in private. even nanelia, the dragon who had relinquished her healing responsibilities to serve as a flight rep, came to help. two of the healers were away to nest, so it was up to only four dragons: elis, nanelia, luna, and avondetta.

there was still a lot of information about her injuries that had to be learned, but the clan knew they had to be patient.

even over the first night she stayed in delos, her condition improved significantly. she was sitting up and talking now. she still didn't try to move, but she showed vast improvement. she didn't share many words, but the healers understood. it would take a lot of time for her to heal mentally.
