*shy smile* The Rockbreaker's Ceremony was supposed to be a time of celebration, but for two siblings it turned into almost unbearable tragedy. Splinter and his brother Legend were traveling with their parents to visit relatives in another clan in Dragonhome when they were set upon by bandits. The bandits killed their parents and laid claim both to everything their parents were carrying with them and to the brothers themselves. The terrified siblings were bound in chains and kept in the bandits' camp, wondering what would become of them. Though Splinter knew that as the eldest it should have been his responsibility to protect his little brother, brash, abrasive Legend was determined to protect his milder, kinder sibling. He declared his brother his charge and decided to defend him at all costs, no matter what the bandits decided to do to them. The bandits merely laughed at the thought of a hatchling doing anything to harm them, but Legend was undeterred - he did his best to shelter his sibling from their taunts and blows and tried to keep his spirits up. Splinter in turn cuddled and comforted his sibling and tried to gently dissuade him from yelling insults at the bandits. Rescue came from an unexpected corner when a coatl red as blood flew into the midst of the camp and declared his intent to slaughter them all. Splinter watched with growing horror as the sword-wielding dragon made good on his word. Though they tried their best to hide while the fighting was going on, they were encumbered by heavy chains and didn't make it very far before the coatl found them. Luckily the coatl had no desire to harm them. Like the siblings, he too had been orphaned by the same bandits, and he had finally had his revenge upon them. Since the brothers had no place to go, the coatl, Indil, decided to take them with him back to the island he now called home, an island called Prufrock in the Starfall Isles. They were adopted by the clan founders, Emrys and Elyta. Though his brother wanted nothing more than to learn the ways of the warrior, Splinter had seen more than enough bloodshed and elected to build and create rather than harm and destroy. Though he lacked his new father's ability to shape stones with magic, he quickly learned to build solid, sturdy, lasting structures out of stone, becoming a skilled stonemason. Of all the dragons in the clan, he gets along best with the carpenter, Johnna, and the two occasionally collaborate on large construction projects. Splinter rarely speaks unless spoken to and is shy and reclusive, but there is nothing he wouldn't do for his brother. |
