"Gardening is not a hobby for old ladies, it's a cutting edge science and I'm the sharpest scalpel around."

Nature might wish to spread and flourish, but it's not fast enough for Hibiscus' taste. Not without help.

Impatient and impulsive, Hibiscus is an outgoing soul with no sense of boundaries or personal space. She will ask any question, pry any topic, and file it all away for later. Aware she's a looker, or at least convinced she is, her pearl is polished with rare herbs for extra luster, and she imbibes special homemade concoctions before she adds layers, to be certain they're perfect. Her appearance isn't the only thing she takes seriously, though. All that drive is applied full force to her work, and it shows.

Gardener was a title applied rather than taken, it didn't really encompass what drives her. Fascinated by the power of minor alterations with magic and selective breeding, she began creating her own superior hybrids, but she wasn't satisfied with the tools available in her home clan. Also unsatisfactory were the claims of unnatural, unneeded, and dangerous levied at her projects.

The move to lighting was strategic, to discover what some of those far too clever dragons were up to, and to study the endurance of the Shifting Expanses' scrub, surviving in such harsh climes. Granted, it was only matter of time before the focus on survival and sustainability for her creations would bring her to the Scarred Wasteland, and the Clan of the Blue Maiden.

Recruited to create natural defenses in the courtyard, Hibiscus took to the job immediately, and with the help of the warping powers of the Wyrmwound, has created an arsenal of plant life to suit ever dragon's needs. Twisting vines with spines that recognize can differentiate clan from trespassers, envenomed trees that devour pests that land upon them, while most are dangerous, a few are beneficial, and keep the Clan's fighters in top shape. She's even developing a flower that heals shade-tainted wounds. Still a work in progress, but it's stopped being lethal to the test subjects!

Though, a job isn't all she has in this clan. Hibiscus' partner in crime is Auru, and together they plot the most diabolical advancements their subject's genetics can handle. Ideas and plans are drawn up as quickly as they're changed or discarded. All that keeps the pair in line is Gaeif, the healer, who curbs the impulses too dangerous to those living here, and insists that at least some of the experiments help her do her job.

All that filed information has it's uses, and while she wouldn't call him a friend, Sebastian will often trade difficult reagents for her experiments in return for a tale or two.
