Like most communities, the Tribe has a rich, layered history. Dragons come and go, sometimes with no warning. No one alive now in the Swamp was alive when Jericho first appeared on the Tribe’s fringes. He clawed his way forward, leaving broken branches slicked with blood in his wake. Perched on his head was a tattered military cap, and bloody bandages were plastered all over him beneath his torn coat. The healer in those days brought the wounded young man in and strove to knock his fever down by dripping sweet water into his mouth. Poultices, cooling cloths, herbs and honey — nothing helped. He lay on the healer’s floor, thrashing and ranting about the Shade. He raved and cursed, eyes rolling and dry tongue protruding from between his cracked lips. Sometimes he would shiver and mutter only “He.” At last, the fearful healer put him outside. She didn’t want him to die beneath her roof and for his spirit to haunt her quarters. Yet, as he rested beneath the light of the full moon, his fever began to ebb. Slowly, his voice faded, along with the ravings. For the first time he slept peacefully. No one knows what he was talking about, who attacked him, or what horrible visions capered in his fevered brain. Now, the tale’s fading into apocrypha. And while the dragons who come to Jericho's Pub sneak glances at the military medals on his coat, none look him in the eye. -Now- Everyone loves his homey pub. This old-timer is an enigma. He makes his home in a small hut on the side of a reedy lake, but no one has ever been inside. He favors darker clothing and smells faintly of booze, but there is something elegant and refined in his manner. Dragons immediately respect him. Some of the younger women have crushes. All are curious.

Don't ask. Jericho is here to serve strong alcohol and wipe glasses, and he is not ready to disclose his past. If such a patron was willing to delve into a dragon's personal business, then it would be worth speaking to Mariela. Mariela knew things about a dragon that often they didn't know about themselves. It was worth listening to a drunken dragon lament over a lost love, a lost life, a bad desicion, or one not yet made. Did he listen? No of course not, he had no time for other's business. Now go away.
