"Come on in and thaw out by the fire, I’ll bring you something to eat in a flap!"

Pashek runs the Ship Faced tavern out of the skeleton of an old Ice Flight warship that rests in the central cavern of the Draumer Den. His pride and joy, the tavern serves as a popular meeting place for visitors and Den residents alike. Matters of official clan business are often held at the tavern after hours. Earnest and charitable, Pashek has a talent for getting people talking and thawing even the most frigid of attitudes. For Pashek nothing is more important than making sure anyone who climbs aboard is given a good meal and an atmosphere that raises the spirits of even the weariest traveler. First-timers to the tavern may be a little alarmed when Pashek places food or drink in front of them without taking their orders but regulars know not to question it. Knowing that no matter what Pashek cooks for them it will be exactly what they needed. Those that insist on choosing their own meals, however, are usually disappointed with the results. Life in the Den for Pashek was bumpy at first. As with many lairs before it, the Den’s residents weren’t exactly eager to eat food prepared by someone who looked so clearly infected. But, after much persuasion by the returning combat team and the surprising amount of faith Tullius himself put into Pashek’s cooking, others slowly began to try it for themselves. Once the ball got rolling and the entire Den began to sing his praise, travelers and visitors began to flood Pashek’s tiny kitchen to see the glowing spiral in action. It wasn’t until Pashek began to get offers to cook elsewhere that the Draumer clan realized they needed to ensure that Pashek, who they had slowly begun to see as part of the family, had enough incentive to stay. Banning together the den remodeled the old decaying longship into the proud tavern it is today and gifted it to Pashek. Much to his delight. The first thing most dragons notice about Pashek is his unnatural glow, and it’s caused him no shortage of trouble over the years. A cook by trade, he once had great difficulty convincing clan’s to allow him to cook for them. Fearful that his glowing belly might be the result of some sort of contagious disease most refused even to shelter him, regardless of how often he explained that his condition was harmless and merely genetic. While bouncing from lair to lair in the Icefields Pashek met a traveling party of warriors returning from a hunting trip. They set up camp together and as Pashek was preparing his own meal, Tullius, the party’s irritable leader, asked if he could try whatever Pashek was cooking. Having only eaten rations for the entirety of the trip Tullius was eager to eat a proper meal. Shocked that his guests were willing to try his food at all Pashek quickly prepared them a portion of his dinner. The Nocturne general was sold on Pashek’s cooking from the first bite and amazingly became less and less hostile with every spoonful he ate. Amazed that the perpetually grouchy Tullius was actually being civil for once the other members of the team soon came over to investigate and, after tasting Pashek’s cooking for themselves, insisted that Pashek come stay at their lair as it was in desperate need of a cook. Thrilled for the opportunity to cook for anyone Pashek jumped at the chance and set off with the troop to the Draumer Den. None of the den’s residents hate Pashek, though Felix butt’s heads with him frequently. While Pashek is unconcerned with the tavern’s revenue so long as his customers are satisfied. The den’s treasurer is constantly frustrated by Pashek’s pay-what-you-can policies. This, in addition to purchasing only the best ingredients for his pantry, means that the tavern is never as profitable as it could be. For all his grievances Felix still insists on balancing the tavern’s books and always finds innovative ways to dig up the fund’s Pashek needs. Though he swears never to play favorites with his patron’s Pashek spends more time with some of the den’s residents than with others. He and Sugar can often be seen in Sugar’s laboratory coming up with new drink specials and discussing potential ways to incorporate alchemy into some of the Tavern's more exotic dishes. The Fortress of Ends Excavation When Pashek first arrived at the Draumer Den excavations had been underway for almost a year and superstitions about the excavation angering the Icewarden had just begun to stir. Aware of how harmful assumptions could be Pashek did his best to quell any gossip as it occurred in his tavern but to little avail. Marco's sudden mysterious illness was the final nail in the coffin and Pashek watched helplessly as over half of the Den's residents fled in fear of incurring what they believed to be the Icewarden's curse. In an attempt to end the curse or at least cleanse the lair's reputation Abyssle, the clan leader at the time, conscripted himself to the Icewarden through a ceremony. Leaderless, and afraid that he would lose the home he had searched so long for Pashek began to rebrand the Draumer Den as a place where any and all would be accepted regardless of whatever curse, affliction or circumstance might ail them. Shockingly the rebranding worked and the Draumer Den once again began to see an influx of visitors. While some connections were forcibly severed new ones began to crop up as dragons that would otherwise have difficulty finding willing buyers or a liar that would house them had found a base of operations in the Icefields. The clan is still leaderless and shaky but Pashek’s tavern is lively and his home is secured, for now. [/font] |
