Dragon Log

A young Alchemist, he came to the Clan from a friendly Plague Clan full of ideas and plans. He found an instant “brother” in AquaRegia, and at the moment the two are as thick as thieves. The only one nearly as close to him is his new familiar, a Great Blue Waveskimmer. The bird, however, disappears whenever the two start pulling out a cauldron….

1-25-17: Brotherhood, Verdigris has found, has its drawbacks. In all respects. A new alchemist arrived at the Clan, and Verdigris willingly joined the welcoming committee... only to discover that she smelled very familiar... and so she was: Cadmia, it turns out, is a younger sibling of his from a later hatching. Verdigris is thrilled to have some of his birth family present in his new Clan, and has happily been showing his sister around, getting her things she needs, and of course keeping an eye on her the way a big brother should. For some reason she doesn't seem to be too appreciative of his efforts...

…And even worse, his "brother" AquaRegia has begun to watch Cadmia with an interest that is not at all brotherly....Perhaps he needs to be the guinea pig in Verdigris' latest experiment? Nothing too harmful, of course. Just something to make it clear that Cadmia is far too young to even be thinking of mating---and especially with a handsome, brash young Alchemist like Reggie….

4-4-17: Reggie's unfortunate interest in Verdigris' sister continues, but for the moment Verdigris has been distracted--much to Cadmia's relief--by another event entirely: His Great Blue Waveskimmer has Awakened! The bird is currently strutting around showing off his bright plumage, and looking quite pleased with himself...

9-20-17: Verdigris went searching for new materials for his latest Alchemy project....and came back with a familiar, instead! Apparently, the Gladeveins Needletooth found something in his new companion that he really liked. No one in the Clan is entirely sure what that was...but the proud grin Verdigris bestowed on the creature when it interrupted Reggie and Cadmia--by snapping at poor AquaRegia's ankles when he tried to lean in too close to Verdigris' sister--makes it very clear why the Bogsneak likes him....

1-1-18: A new year...and a new familiar Awakening! It seems that Verdigris' Gladeveins Needletooth, “Defensor”, has decided to greet the new year in style, by finally achieving full maturity. Verdigris is thrilled that the lizard has decided to make this leap at last, and he is already making plans for what they will do next. Plans that have AquaRegia quite nervous, as Verdigris keeps looking over at him and grinning oddly...

1-31-18: Verdigris is furious! It seems that Meteor, a pretty older Tundra in the Clan, asked him several months ago for help with training for the Sornieth Winter Games. Digris has not really ever thought of himself as an athlete, but Meteor wanted advice on the alchemical properties of ice, and how she could use it to her advantage while practicing. Verdigris was more than happy to provide aid with that, and even happier that the Tundra appeared to want his advice, specifically. But now, on the very day that Meteor is heading into the Games, he has discovered that while he was distracted by her needs, his "brother" AquaRegia went behind his back and started courting Cadmia! Oh, when he gets his claws on that cunning Bogsneak...at least Meteor doesn't know that her needs caused Digris to be unable to properly protect his sister. She would be devastated if she found out....

7-24-18: For the first time, Verdigris is heading out to a Festival! Of course, he isn't exactly there to have fun....

As the dragons went bustling through the Carnivale, Verdigris moved through them slowly, peering at those gathered around each stall and tent. He knew that his sister and that dratted friend of his were here somewhere, getting up to no good with each other He had overheard Spinel mentioning sending them both to the festival only that morning. Oh, when he found that traitorous Bogsneak who dared look at his sweet, innocent sister, he woul--

"OOF!" The strange-looking dragon stumbled back, having just run into a tent pole. Startled, he shook his head to clear it, then shouldered his way into the tent. No missing sister...but an odd note on the floor. Something about alchemy ingredients....oh! Was this odd machine some kind of new alchemical device, that needed special ingredients to function? Intrigued, Verdigris shuffled closer. The machine was quiet, and didn't look like anything related to alchemy that he had ever seen before. Still, it was interesting, and he DID have some extra stuff lying around back at the Clan campsite...

Verdigris hurried out the tent, so intent on getting back to gather some items that he completely missed the two laughing--and very familiar-looking--Bognseaks that were coming out of a tent a few feet away...

2-21-20: AquaRegia is currently away from the Clan, on an extended trip to Plague Flight, and Digris has decided to take advantage of this respite from needing to watch Cadmia to do some exploring...and now he has even more help with keeping an eye on his sister! He made a quick trip down to the hoard, and found an unbonded Slight Eyewing, who was more than willing to agree to be a guardian for Verdigris' sister in return for a full familiar bond, and protection from anyone wishing to bother him. The arrangement is perfect for Bogsneak and creature, and Digris is quite sure that "Custos" will be fully trained by the time AquaRegia returns, and more than ready to ensure that Cadmia remains safe...

3-5-20: Reggie’s continued absence from the Clan has had an odd affect upon Digris. Far from being happy, the longer AquaRegia is away, the more despondent Verdigris is feeling. He had never meant to drive his old friend away from the Clan completely! The situation is even more complicated, as some time ago several young Bogsneaks showed up, claiming to be Reggie’s daughters by another dragon. Cadmia seems not to be affected by this news, but Digris has seen that his beloved sister has not smiled since these new dragons arrived--despite the fact that Cadmia actually adopted two of them--a small female named “Vitriola,” and Reggie’s first-born son, “AurumFulminans”--as her own children. Somehow, Verdigris isn’t feeling nearly as upset about that as he should be…

3-10-20: AurumFulminans is becoming quite a nuisance, tagging after Verdigris all day long, asking constant questions about Alchemy, and insisting on calling him “Uncle Digris.” Digris should take him to task for this, but…the questions are actually quite intelligent, and Aurum isn’t exactly in the way that much…

3-12-20: Digris has decided to stop pretending, and has officially taken AurumFulminans as his apprentice. Both dragons are very happy with the arrangement. Now if only Digris could stop Aurum from asking so many questions about Digris’ opinion of Aurum’s father…

3-27-20: Aurum has been a faithful apprentice, and an extremely attentive one as well, listening to everything that Verdigirs told him without argument. If he keeps this up, he will be an incredible Alchemist in no time at all. In fact, Digris was recently so impressed by his apprentice’s behavior, that he decided to give the younger Bogsneak a treat, and asked Aurum what he would like as a gift. To Digris’ chagrin, Aurum asked for permission to travel to the Cloudsong for the Mistral Jamboree…and asked “Uncle Digris” to come with him. And so, the dragon who is terrified of height has found himself on a balloon thousands of feet in the air, trying very hard not to look down…

…And in the process of this adventure, Digris has also found himself re-examining many of his own ingrained thoughts and beliefs, helped along by his Clanmate Ev’enfall. Somehow, Eve seems to have realized far more about Digris’ feelings regarding Cadmia and Reggie than Verdgris himself ever knew. And now, while that extremely soothing music plays behind him ( ), he is beginning to think he may have been a fool after all… ( )

3-28-20: Digris has decided to take Ev’enfall’s advice, and talk to Aurum about Reggie, and about his own stupidity. ( ) And when he returns home to the Clan, he will be talking to Cadmia, as well, and giving his little sister a heartfelt apology for his behavior. After all, where is the harm in Verdigris’ “brother” courting his birth sister? There are a lot worse dragons out there, who might have gotten their hooks into Cadmia. At least with AquaRegia, Digris will know she will be safe, and happy--if he can figure out what Plague-awful potion or spell caused Reggie to mate with another dragon, and get it out of Reggie’s system. In the meantime, though, there is the end of the Cloudsong to endure ( ) …and he has to figure out what on Sornieth they are going to do with the strange Golem that that Skydancer Musician gave them, which Aurum seems so enamored of….

5-20-20: "Custos," Verdigris' Slight Eyewing friend, has Awakened! Digris is thrilled that his friend is now mature, and much better able to take care of himself than previously. Perhaps "Custos" will consent to helping Cadmia keep an eye out for AquaRegia's return to the Clan? And maybe this newest familiar that has suddenly turned up, this "Ornamental Eyewing" creature, will be willing to help with that as well. All those eyes might be the best chance they have of spotting Reggie, and Digris really, really, needs his brother to come home...

5-23-20: AquaRegia has come home! Digris is overjoyed to see his brother—though he is not so happy to see the Nocturne that accompanied Reggie on the journey, or the four new hatchlings. While he cannot deny that AurumFulminans is a delightful “nephew,” that does not mean that Verdigris is particularly happy to see the young Bogsneak’s birth mother joining the Clan, and bringing even more baby dragons by AquaRegia with her….

5-24-20: Virdigirs is furious. He was about to express his displeasure at the upstart female breaking his sister’s heart when Nebula dragged the interloper to the Healerie. Now he cannot believe what Nebula revealed. He had suspected that Reggie was dosed--why else would he abandon Cadmia for another dragon?--but it had not occurred to the Master Alchemist that Amara, Aurum’s mother, had also been influenced by potions. How dare Anthrax play with them like this? When he gets his paws on that Ridgeback….

5-26-20: Verdigris is a little calmer, after a chat with Reggie. His brother does not seem permanently affected by the potions he imbibed and is still very much in love with Cadmia. Digris took great pleasure in watching AquaRegia’s face when he informed him that he, Digris, had realized how much of a fool he was, and had no more objections to Reggie and Cadmia mating. It was a truly wonderful thing to see that smile—and the even brighter smile on Cadmia’s face a few minutes later, when Reggie went to his true mate. Now if they can only figure out how to incorporate poor Amara into this…

6-3-20: It seems that Cadmia had the answer to Amara’s difficulties all along. Verdigris isn’t sure what to think of the arrangement of “sister-mates” his sister has set up with the Nocturne, but as long as Cadmia is happy, Verdigris will accept it. And Amara is a nice addition to the family, with her interest in the Lunar influence on potions. In fact, she’s a nice dragon period…far too nice to have been caught up in Anthrax’s manipulations. Perhaps Digris should pay his old Clan a visit and show them exactly what he thinks of the Ridgeback’s little game…

8-27-22: Things have settled down for the small family. Cadmia and Amara are getting along fine, and Reggie is happy. Even better, Digris' apprentice might be ready to branch out on his own soon, a fact that has Verdigris as excited as Aurum himself. At the moment, however, there is another reason for excitement: The strange Bladebone Goliath, whose origins are still not clear, has been tolerant of the Clan for some time, but not showing any particular interest in any one dragon. Now, that has changed, and the odd green turtle--or is that tortoise?--has initiated a bond with Verdigris! In fact, he was so eager to become friends, he actually knocked Defensor out of the way to reach Digris. Fortunately, the Gladeveins Needletooth is fine, and even seems somewhat amused by the creature...and impressed? Oh dear, this could be a problem...

11-19-22: Digris' Bladebone Goliath friend has Awakened! Maybe now the turtle can help with some of Digris' experiments--as soon as Verdigris can get him away from Defensor...What on Sornieth can those two be planning this time? Hopefully it won't involve a Clan-wide familiar wrestling match again...Imbolc was REALLY not pleased about that last time...Hmmm…maybe Digris could convince his old friend to hang out for a while with Amara? The Gladeveins Needletooth does seem to like her, after all, and Amara might appreciate the company…and it would give Digris a chance to chat with her again….
