CINDER
Clanmate | Leader |
___________ |
BACKGROUND
Cinder was found by chance by the Mirror pack while hunting. The dragons saw her at first as a slightly cooler spot in the middle of a bonfire, but then when they looked closer, they realized with horror that there was a hatchling in the midst of the roaring flames and pulled her out. Medic Caeli rushed to treat the hatchling's burns – only to find the only markings the fire had left seemed to be blackened runes across her scales and dark marks on her horns and paws. Judging by this, and the fact that there were no other adult dragons around, the Mirror pack named her Cinder and brought her back to the clan to be raised.
She quickly found that, with the markings of the flames, it was possible for her to control fire and that she was far better at it than her legacy of light. She convinced Blazing Heart Elesis, famed for her skill over fire, to teach her proper control and spells. Cinder learned quickly and soon found her love for feeling the flames course through her veins and runes to billow into whatever she wants them to do. During this time, she also made friends with Sapphire, Breeze, and Dahlia. The three of them formed a strangely close bond with each balancing out the others' flaws. The four of them might have stayed in their happy equilibrium forever, each enjoying the others' company, if the clan hadn't almost fallen apart. Arcane and Wind's annual battle for control of Starwind Bay shook the clan to its core as dragons made their choices to leave and serve the Arcanist on the frontlines. Mirror packmates left to serve, Faes and Skydancers from the clan proper left, and the clan's size was drastically reduced. Indecisive and forgetful clan leader Leo couldn't properly cope with the sudden emptiness of the lair, and the relationships within the clan tensed, steering them on a course towards disaster. It was into this space that Cinder and her group stepped. Cinder quickly reorganized the remaining dragons, setting their focus a bit less on pure magical research for research's sake and more on thriving as a clan, and crowned herself and her three friends as the new clan leaders. Things might have stayed like this forever if Cinder hadn't had doubts about her leadership, and gone to visit a fortune-teller. She came back with a new conviction that she had to change the authoritarian way in which she'd been leading. Sapphire protested, but another death knell cemented Cinder's conviction – the seer Seramore rasped out an ominous prophecy before scratching out his own eyes as darkness flooded the heavens. Cinder leapt into action. She rallied the fearful clan around herself, and led them in efforts to help the Arcanist even while they packed their things to move across Sornieth. Lightning territory became their new home after a vote, the clan name changed from Starflame to Eschaton as they abandoned the Arcanist, and Cinder opened her ears to the fears and concerns of her clan, allowing a council of advisers to form. Sapphire, Breeze, Dahlia, Leo, Zodiac, and Orion are the official members of this council, though Cinder makes it a point to be open to any other dragon who has a concern to bring to her attention. In this way, she hopes to rule for decades. |

PERSONALITY
Cinder, though smart, has never been the studious archetype of a Light dragon. She far prefers to slack off and do the minimum amount of work required. It's laziness under the guise of efficiency. Sapphire and Dahlia can both get Cinder to work hard, though, and she does put quite a lot of effort into things that interest her such as her fire studies with Elesis. She has a fierce temper and a protective streak a mile wide. Her friends are carefully kept close to her, and her enemies don't last long - whether it be through a fight or by thoroughly destroying their reputation. At least she can't keep a grudge very long. If a dragon can avoid her wrath for a few days, it's likely she'll forget all about it. (Sapphire, however, can hold a grudge, and making Sapphire mad is the quickest way to get Cinder to destroy you.) |
