He was born a Skydancer, but as the lair had his parents and several brothers and cousins still in residence at that time, he needed to be different. When he felt totally attracted to his lady who is a lovely Snapper, he researched what breed of dragons would work well with her. Of the equal cool down options, he chose Spiral. Emberglo was surprised, as the members of her lair had always opted away from Spiral. But change happened, and here he is. Wyldyrn, the clan Matriarch, asked for help in naming him. Foxbrow, a member of Shadow Flight, suggested Mandrake and his name was found. His lady asked to change her name - she became Mandragora.
Mandrake is quite the magical Spiral. His favorite hobby is delivering 'Shadow Bombs' that make people laugh. He also likes to compose limericks. His familiar, who he found rooting around in one of the lair's gardens, says her name is Hermione. She travels with him on his many adventures. They are especially fond of visiting new Shadow members and showering them with gifts and maybe a new familiar for their lair. They often hand out cookies in a jar, a note of limericks, shrooms and a maple leaf. Hermione often shape-changes to a cat, as does Mandragora's familiar.

Here are a few of his limericks: Our deity is Shadowbinder And here’s just a little reminder - She adores maple leaves And those tricks up your sleeves But never sneak up behind her! Shadow bakers use chips, spice and thyme The cookies we bake are sublime Glow Shrooms: DO NOT EAT! But they make a good seat And a reading lamp at the same time. This is a rhyme so you know There's no 'W' in Emberglo If you send her a ping With that 'W' thing There's no telling where your ping will go! A QUAD-limerick to Baldwin: "Hey there! Baldwin!" A leech into Bald's pot they threw To stew us a glorious brew, But the yellow goo count Eighty-one will surmount! Baldwin STOP please: eschew yellow goo!" We know you are wise and it's true That your pot can produce wondrous goo. But you seem to be stuck- Something may be amok! Can you give us a goo that is new? Oh the wonders your cauldron can do (By the way - have you tried a fondue?) Please make purple or green Even red would be keen Or an orange you could get around to. But for my dear Shadymum you Have been the one to over do. No more yellow for us. Now it's superfluous! So please do a new goo that is blue!" And a really silly one he just composed: If you know of a dragon who's sad And you want it to stop feeling bad Just tickle its toes With a red rubber rose And that dragon will surely turn glad! Some limericks for Trickmurk - The Tangled Wood folk welcome you To our flag of the moon where it’s true We have shrooms round our nests Purple eyes are the best And our Circus of Trickmurk to do! When the pinecones are ripe they will shimmer. Mama’s eyes will take on a strange glimmer. And the cauldrons will brew, A dark mirth will ensue. Emblems glow very bright, never dimmer.
