Catchy phrase here!
╭
A prominent member of the House, Amara is an extremely skilled runecarver, and can often be found inside her shop hidden on the outskirts of Aaldir. an extreme perfectionist, she can take up to several months agonizing over how to best inscribe and enchant her works. Has several apprentices, who she teaches the common practices of the art, and who also man her stall in the Kamari Bazaar Is almost never seen outside, prefers to spend her time in her dark workshop enchanting blades and critiquing her students crafts A blade enchanted by her is considered invaluable, for next to nothing created by mortal claws can break or overpower the magic inscribed into the metalwork Very irritable, mostly during the final stages of a commission where any little mistakes or disruptions can destroy months of work and the subject piece. Known best for her Nature enchantments due to her base magic, but even a plague enchant created by her can beat any inscribed by a plague member of the craft

One doesn’t need to meet Amara to know how dangerous she can be. Stories are told of the blades, pendants, and rare scarves that have known her touch, for Amara is a consummate runecarver, and any object she works on becomes imbued with tremendous power. Naturally, many clans are eager to apprentice their youngsters to her. The young dragons, for their part, approach the apprenticeship with mixed feelings. Amara’s reputation—and it can be a terrifying one—precedes her. The Runecarver herself is also shrouded in mystery, for she rarely ventures from her home. And so when the youngster arrives at the workshop, they are more than a little scared. Often their first glimpse of Amara is of a dark Pearlcatcher, nearly invisible in the dimness, looming over another apprehensive apprentice. Faint stars twinkle on her scales, and from her mouth, a nearly constant stream of complicated words— “This blade has a pre-existing enchantment from an unknown Plague shaman. An overlaid Nature rune could conflict with it, result in erratic performance up to and including backlash. And this shield hasn’t been treated with flame retardant. Imbuing it with Fire runes could cause it to spontaneously combust...” The jargon might as well be witchcraft at this point. The confused novice shakes their head as they are shown to their rooms. They are given time to settle in.... When they emerge again, the common room is empty—but they will find that a covered dish has been set out for them, plus a fortifying drink. Despite the intimidating nature of the place and its proprietress, the message is apparent: You are welcome here. ~ ~ ~ Life in the workshop can actually be comfortable. There is camaraderie between the youngsters—and while Amara is a strict teacher, she is not unnecessarily critical. She is often present to give guidance; other times she is ensconced in her private atelier, working on projects of her own. At certain times of the year, when the nights are at their longest, Amara sends out her apprentices. Each youngster carries a wrapped parcel, to be delivered to designated households or organizations. There is much speculation as to what these projects are. They could be weapons of great power! Runes to summon gods! Spells to level entire cities... When warmth returns, dragons throng the streets again. Among them are hatchlings, many of them with brand-new toys. Wondrous things that flutter, glow, or sing, drawing power from the runes carved deep within them. The apprentices continue to speculate on powerful spells and weapons, smiling knowingly all the while. They keep Amara’s secret, as all good apprentices should, and this she appreciates. Her reputation as a powerful spellmaker is well known, but it is nice to have secrets, even if they are small and softhearted ones. Sometimes those are the best kinds of secrets to keep. Better secrets than skeletons in the closet and scandals in the night...but secrets to keep nonetheless. Amara has a reputation to uphold, after all. ~ written by Disillusionist (254672) all edits by other users
