Phira
Head Archer

The Archer. The warrior. The brave one. That’s what they all think I am, what they expect me to be all the time. But I’m not. Everyone knows that. I’m not a warrior, a fighter. An archer, maybe, but not to kill. I would never kill.

Archery is more of my hobby than anything else. Sure, I fight in the army, but when does my peaceful little clan ever go into battle against other? I wish the answer to that was never.

The one time I did go into a battle, it was horrible. Screaming, blood, dragons lying everywhere, nearly dead. I shudder at just the thought of that battle. And then… And then there was the battle when I was a hatchling. That one was even worse.

I didn’t participate in it, but for some reason, I thought I did. After the battle, when both my parents came back hurt and nearly dead, I was even more determined to be in the army when I grew up. To avenge them.

Now I wish I had never made that wish, the horrible, single wish. Now I can’t have anyone I love with me. It would be too dangerous for them, for me. I have made a few friends among the forces, but they’re not good friends, true friends.

Other dragons overestimate me. My name is Phira, and although dragons think that it means ‘war,’ it actually means ‘one who loves music,’ And I think for once, something is accurate. I don’t have a particular liking for music in general, but it reminds me of peace.

And peace is, truly, something that everyone needs. Just imagine a world without war, with lush green meadows and everything else good. No more war. No more fighting. Just music, harmony, and the such.

But deep down inside, I just know that that is something that can’t be achieved. There may be short times like that, but they never stay. Ever. This world is bound to war. There is no way to stop it.

And after all this time of being an archer, I’ve learned two things- Don’t take anything for granted, and enjoy the peace while it’s there. Two things, and two things only. War may not be good, but I believe that after it, sooner or later, there will be peace, unending peace.

I just don’t know if anyone’s brave enough or good enough to bring that peace.

I have been known to be a very hard headed dragon, While also being a bit of a softy when it comes to younglings. My mother, Saphri, raised me to be respectful and kind to those from different clans. And to always accept them despite whatever differences we may have. You may also notice that I'm highly protective of my family. As they mean everything to me. So I will do whatever it takes to keep them safe. So please don't be offended if I don't take kindly to you at first. It's not that I don't like you. I just don't trust strangers quite that easily. But I will promise that once you do get to know me. You'll see just how kind I can be.

When I'm not busy helping my parents around the lair, Or practicing my archery. I am normally off reading somewhere quiet. Or playing with the younglings. While those in my clan don't fear the way I look, I tend to scare off any intruders who may be foolish enough. To try and attack my family. They see one look at me and take off running.
