The Kirin are a 'sub-species' of immortalkind, defined by the magical horn upon their foreheads. Some of them may also sport a pair of antlers or extra horns.

Kirin share a large portion of regular immortal traits, including the way they came to be, although there are some key differences.

Most commonly, kirin possess two elements. A very rare occurrence is that a kirin has only one element, but there have been no instances of a kirin having more than two.

Kirin have their own unique seals, aka emera, which represent the kind of magic that they excel at. Each kirin has a specific type of magic and collection of spells that they are exceptionally good at, and it is unique to the individual. No two kirin are the same in that sense. Often times a kirin may know and even invent spells that no one but them alone is able to use.

They are rarely found all on their own. Kirin prefer to form clans, and stick to one single location that they call their home. A lone travelling kirin is a phenomenon almost unheard of.

A kirin clan usually consists entirely of only kirin. They are not sceptical or prejudiced of non-kirin but mortals or other immortals becoming members is rare.

Kirin within a clan do choose a leader but still see each other as equals. The leader simply oversees and guides the clan and has no more authority than any other member.

In the modern day of dragons, kirin clans are secluded; many believe them to just be a myth and not exist at all. That is due to the great hunt of the archangels where kirin and immortals alike were targeted and thus going into hiding was their only choice in order to stay alive.

Before the hunt, kirin were a lot more open and often integrated with mortal societies, more so than regular immortals would.
