POSEIDON

Keeper of the Peace

Poseidon is perhaps the most level-headed and widely respected of the clan, as well as one of its most longstanding members. When Nightshade and Anubis fled the Southern Icefield, they were unable to find a place to settle on the Windswept Plateau, as the majority of the clans serving the Windsinger did not want to risk conflict with the Icewarden over harbored fugitives. The two exiles were forced to move on to the Sea of a Thousand Currents, where they were fortunate enough to encounter the Imperial swimming near the shore.

Though born and raised a member of the Water Flight, Poseidon's elementally mixed heritage made him sympathetic to the wanderers' cause, and he took them under his wing, finding them a relatively safe place on the shore where he could keep tabs on them and provide them with food.

Despite the Imperial's care, the two ice-born dragons couldn't help but long for a place that they could truly call home (and also not have to worry about getting sand all over everything.) Much to her surprise, when Nightshade informed Poseidon that they'd be moving to the Tangled Wood, he decided to leave his birth clan and accompany them.

Since then, he's become the unspoken father figure of Nightshade's clan, content to let the Spiral do the governing, while he attends to more civil matters, like resolving quarrels and playing with the hatchlings. He also is widely considered a formidable warrior, and teaches the basics of combat to dragons seeking to join the service of the Shadowbinder.

He gained an interest in science over the course of his relationship with lightning-born Alondra, though he never quite seemed to get the hang of it. Nonetheless, he's very rarely seen without his goggles on his person, earning him a great deal of heckling from close friend Shardas. (Well he thinks they look dashing, so there.)

Some time after the founding of the clan, Poseidon met Amphitrite, a fellow water-born Imperial who was sent by his friends and family to check up on him. Unfortunately for the servants of the Tidelord, word never came back, as Poseidon and Amphitrite soon began courting, and Nightshade accepted the female into the clan.

Poseidon was initially extremely nervous, as he was no more eager to break things off with Alondra than he was to ignore his growing attraction to Amphitrite. Thankfully, they were each just as fond of each other as they were of him! Though Poseidon was initially alarmed by this, the three Imperials quickly settled into a happy polyamorous relationship, and can frequently be found lounging about as a trio.
