Finding Home
by paintminion Tempestra wasn't sure what to do as she wandered around. They often told her she was born under lucky stars, but she was pretty depressed about it all, as she just wasn't sure about what to do for a job, or where to settle. One day she fell asleep after playing in Windstar Bay, only to wake up with hatchlings all around her, arguing. "I saw her first, I get to ask." said a small insistent voice. "She's an Ice dragon, and my parents are from Ice Flight, so I should ask her!" argued a second small voice. Tempesta groaned and sat up. "Just ask whatever it is so I can return to my nap." She looked around to see two small hatchlings staring at her with wide frightened eyes. "What's up?" The two hatchlings stuttered and looked at each other, then the first one stepped closer and bowed. "Youshouldcometoourlairfordinner." it said in an excited rush. The other one stepped up, rolling its eyes. "He means to say, would you join our lair for dinner? We're nearby and you look pretty tired, and our lair is used to helping dragons out, whatever you're up to." Tempesta thought for a moment. Her gut was getting grumbly, and she thought she'd just catch a few fish or something, but a real home-cooked meal? Her gut grumbled total consent. "I guess I will, thank you! Show me the way?" Tempesta followed the hatchlings to their home lair, Siltaria's Lair, and discovered a beautiful place with many nice dragons. She did discover that what she really loved was having snacks on the beach at sunset with friends around. She sighed that night, watching the hatchlings play as the sky turned orange and the waves crashed ashore. Siltaria herself walked along the beach, talking to this group and that, having a few words with other dragons watching the hatchies play on the sand. "May I sit with you a while?" the Lair Leader asked, settling down next to Tempesta when she had consent. "Had a good dinner?" "Yes I did, thank you. It was very kind of you to include me." "You're very welcome. Now, what's up? Looking for a place to fit in? We can always make room for one more. You seem content here." "I do feel good here. If you're offering, I think I'd like to stay awhile." "Awhile works. If the Wind calls you away, we'll even shed some tears, but we do our best to make room for everyone that finds their way here." Tempesta stayed, training with MeleMai in how to do Pedicures, as well as studied up a bit with other dragons to make sure her First Aid was better than ever. She enjoyed caring for the dragons that came through the Lair, having others to chat and gossip with, and even took a turn or two helping the hatchlings. She felt at home. |
