Laelia's lore and code are being updated. Pieces of her old lore are below for reference.

Generation 4 Night Warrior

When born into such a vast progeny, some seek glory above the others. A few dragons cast away all that it is for everyone to see. Dragons like Laelia strictly decide when, where, and how they will serve as a member of the Night Warriors.

Lore:
Quiet stillness prevailed through every cell of a small hatchling’s body. Swords clanged with every breath. Magic crackled through the air. Others fluttered one way or another, swooping gusts of air into the face of a couple hatchlings. One simply blinked, not even moving to fix the displaced feathers in her crest.

If she had to be anything, perhaps Laelia was bored. Sunrise to sunset her family trained, and sunset to sunrise her family trained more.

They said that if she could only be bothered to apply herself, she would be an excellent strategist.

She said, that if they would only look forward and not back, they might see what they could do with their might and magic.

At the end of every day, it seemed that she won her side of the argument. Some Night Warriors pitied her, some disdained her, and more still seemed to simply not understand her. It wasn’t that she couldn’t fight - she could. It wasn’t that she couldn’t strategize - she could. It wasn’t that she didn’t like her family - she did, at least as a family does with disagreements and all.

She just didn’t want to. She didn’t want to fight, strategize, or be a Night Warrior. She wanted to be Laelia. That didn’t mean that she was a pacifist, or that she was disowning her family, though some disagreed with her on that profoundly.

The girl fought when she should have fought, she planned when she needed to plan, and she held the banner of her great progeny when she willed it and only when she willed it.

As both she and her family wished, Laelia left the clan of her parents once she was old enough to be considered barely an adult. Like so many before her, she left the clan in search of a new one. Like so few before her, she left without the priority of spreading her lineage’s everything to the rest of Sorneith.

At the very least, she left with the sister she grew up with in mind. She and Adamantine were akin to Yin and Yang, opposites and two halves of a whole. Where Adamantine was fiery and focused, Laelia was tranquil and tame. Where Adamantine had a steely guard over her heart, Laelia had few feelings to hide to begin with. More importantly than anything, Adamantine understood Laelia’s language.

Her lack of expression was not a lack of emotion; it was a value of priority. When Laelia ducked her head with her low, long chuckle, she was not being disdainful or dismissive. It was a sign of her intellect finally sparking at someone’s challenge to meet her at her own level.

Her disinterest in battle or a mate were a hatchling’s rebellion against their family traditions either, and their family had plenty. She would not fight without a cause, nor would she raise any young or even entertain a dragon’s interest without a strong bond.

Rarely taking the time to keep in contact with others was another hallmark of who she was, even losing touch with her brother, Gladion, when he left the clan well before her. She did, however, keep in touch with Adamantine. Her sister remained in their birth clan, something that she could not begin to fathom. Deciding that she didn’t need to understand, Laelia made sure to have her own ways of getting letters to and from her sister without the rest of their family prying into them. Once that was set into place, she was off.

Headcanons:
“This hatchling is quiet but less guarded than her sister. She dislikes rigorous study, preferring to work her way through problems and come up with her own inventive solutions instead of studying the works of dragons who have come before her.” -ZenithNadir (Headcanon is the basis for Laelia’s lore)

“Laelia’s unexpressive nature is often misunderstood as a lack of care and general apathy, especially when it is contrasted with her breed. Her usual lack of expression is actually a sign of how important she views the subject matter. If she reacts, the subject isn’t something she’ll brush off easily.” -VoxxVoleur

“While Adamantine guards her emotions carefully, Laelia doesn’t seem to have much to guard at all. It isn’t that she’s unemotional, she’s simply confident that no one will be able to hurt her.” -VoxxVoleur

“Laelia’s default expression is one of boredom, but her most memorable is the head duck and low, long chuckle she gives when amused.” -VoxxVoleur

Night Warriors and Combat Skill:

Despite the portion of the Night Warriors that dislike Laelia for her blatant choice to put her own values into consideration before those of their family line, Laelia still holds a strong resemblance to their strength.

Laelia is extremely skilled in defensive combat. Unarmed and unhindered, she can dodge, parry, and redirect all strikes against her from even the most experienced warriors. Laelia’s unarmed skill is practically unheard of in their family, in the sense that her skill in martial arts is based in completely pure defense. She adamantly refuses to attack her opponents directly, instead using their attacks against them to incapacitate them.

The study of Aikido, her brand of martial arts, seems to be the only exception Laelia has made so far towards any kind of rigorous training. It is also one of the few subjects she is openly enthralled with. In a family and clan filled with warriors, the idea of a fighting style that involved no aggression on her part was astonishing, then fascinating.

The mastery of her skill in combat at a fairly young age seems to show that Laelia has exceptional potential as a warrior, even considering her lineage. Despite this, the Skydancer still shows no desire to put her skill to more ‘practical’ uses.

Quotes:

“It’s an unheard of concept, but I won’t fight without a cause. If you have one, please do tell me. If not, then save yourself the time and leave.” -Laelia

“You could say that I drive the Night Warriors in my family up a wall, but that would be an understatement.” -Laelia

“Attack all you want, you won’t lay a claw on me. Just let me know when you get tired, alright?” -Laelia to the Night Warriors, who tested her battle skill, before she left her birthclan.

“Expertise first, experiment second, and when all else fails, have someone else take a look at what you’re doing.” -Laelia
