Sunbeam dryads are not known to get along exceedingly well with dragons, however this one has taken quite a liking to Cefni and the two can often be seen playing together, and with the other children of the forest. The dryad is quite protective of his draconic friend though, and sometimes lashes out at dragons it isn't familiar with.

The sweet smell of frangipani fills a warm amber alcove. The morning light shines through its golden walls, giving a warm glow to its sparse furnishings.

A long wiry tail runs from the entrance at the base of the pod to a shallow, concave shelf about midway up its curved wall. At first glance, it is invisible against the amber interior. Its roughness – the roughness of leathery skin, the only thing that sets it apart from the shiny cured tree sap.

The tail twitches as its owner stirs, awoken by the bright morning light and birdsong from the surrounding trees. He lazily blinks a pair of pale yellow eyes, and as he does every morning with a thin claw, and precise stroke, adds to the carved ripple-like pattern above his head.

Near his sleeping alcove, an olive-coloured cocoon stirs, a dark arm emerges from the end, and begins to peel leaves away and reveal their owner - a youthful male dryad with skin a medley of pinks and golds. The dryad turns to his draconic companion, nods, then exits the pod through the small round opening in its base.

The fae, oblivious to his companion's movement, finishes up his carving then stretches lazily, reaching to the opposite side of the pod, he grabs and empties a bowl of mangled fireflies into his mouth. Stowed there the night before, they make a lovely breakfast for a lazy fae. Belly full of fireflies, Cefni crawls out into the pale unfiltered sunlight to begin his day.

No job has this young fae, he spends his days frolicking in the lush gardens.

The pod is a teardrop shaped wonder, beautifully crafted from a rich, silky amber. Its surface is perfectly smooth, bearing no tool marks or seams, and is beautifully polished to shine like a drop of golden nectar. The pod is nestled among the high branches of a sweeping frangipani tree, large for its type, and in fact, unusually so, this far from the Viridian Labyrinth. A different, stronger, variety of amber firmly attaches the pod to a branch as strong, and as thick as the tail of a fully grown imperial. The greenish-brown tendril of amber snakes tightly around the branch, holding it there through the fiercest storm. The pod itself is a delicate construction, its exterior only about 4 meters across, so to any passing dragons, it is crystal clear that its owner must be a solitary fae.

There is a roughly oval opening near the base of this amber bauble. Its rim is rougher, and is covered in detailed carvings, repetitive and precise patterns that extend along the interior of the pod. It is through this small opening that Cefni exits, propelling himself from the rim to a nearby branch. As he lands, a shower of petals floats to the ground. The falling petals promise too much fun, and in an instant, the playful fae darts off the branch. Spreading his thin wings, he chases them all the way to the forest floor, Snapping them up in his tiny mouth. The dryad chases his friend, gesturing wildly and making the petals dance side to side as they fall just out of reach of Cefni's snapping.

A stiff morning breeze picks up as the sun warms the flat plains of the Sunbeam Ruins. Its eddies are weak, but catch the Frangipani petals, and are strong enough to break the dryad's control. The petals flutter circles around the exited fae and he happily accepts this invitation to dance along with them, and in a very spiral- like manner, begins a fluid series of acrobatics, swirling and twisting, with the fragrant petals. The dryad looks on at him, smiling and following close behind, his own personal cloud of petals forming and changing around him with his movements.
As is typical with fae, Cefni quickly grows hungry, it had been just a few hours since his firefly snack and his tiny body already needed refuelling. Still, within the garden, food for a hungry fae is abundant, and easy to find. All manner of insects dwell among the lush forest, and those that fly are the favoured type for fae.
