Covalence is the very antithesis of her brother Verdandt. His specialty is happy stories, perfect for lulling hatchlings to sleep and making any dragon in distress feel better. Covalence, or Val as she is normally called, does not write fluff. She crafts the most heartbreaking tragedies, full of death and despair and horror. She still tells hatchlings her stories, all right, but they tend to run off screaming. Except young Codex; he seems fascinated with her craft. His sister Constellation tries to stay interested, but the stories tend to make her uncomfortable.
Covalence and her brother tend to argue a lot because of their differences, especially on the subject of which story type is better. However, when working together, they can create the most moving tales known to their respective clans. Of course, it would be better if they actually finished their collaborations instead of arguing about how to end it.

Val herself is actually quite kind; she's nothing like the tales she spins, much more interested in tales of war than the real thing. She tends to be a bit scatterbrained and forgetful, too absorbed in her art to really focus on the mundane daily activities that are fairly necessary. She's afraid of absolutely nothing, oddly enough, and would scold an emperor that interrupted her.
The tattoos on her wings symbolize her art; death and tragedy and writing. The chains and mysterious vials she wears she claims contain poisons and tears shed at her works, though no one knows if this is true.

Covalent here is my treasured storyteller. She's a great writer of tragedies and sad, sorrowful stories. What she writes can bring anyone to tears, hence why she has the paintings of bones and scrolls on her wings. She says the little vials she carries contain tears shed because of her stories, though no one knows if this is true. She herself is actually very kind, and a bit eccentric, nothing like the stories she tells.

She has a brother that she collaborates with who writes sweet stories and fluffy things. The tales they tell together are unlike any their clans have ever seen! Too bad they constantly argue over how to end stories.

Lore aside, Covalent was named for an old RP I used to do, which was happy and sad all at the same time, and it meant a lot to me. Covalent and her brother Verdandt (owned by an old friend) always kinda symbolized two things in writing; fluff and tragedy. Who knew those things could combine so beautifully?
