Biography
⠀⠀⠀The nights came and went in the bustling city of Bisben. The city stood tall against the recession that lingered since the war that took place almost two decades prior. Despite the struggles, people always a found a way to come out on top and rise to whatever occasion. The consistent sound of car horns and the buzzing of speakers belonging to tall advertising boards could be heard nonstop for miles. It was a noisy world and most had gotten use it. For Vael however, this was one of many annoyances that always drowned her peace. She watched from rooftops, fire escapes, any place away from curious eyes and bright lights.
⠀⠀⠀Vael scoffed as an image of tonight's hero sprung onto the screens. It was the new hero, one with a flashy costume and well groomed hair. He was a new fan favorite of this city, and up and comer named Phoenix. He had been lucky enough to win the previous year's heroes tournament and gain quite the reputation. This man was praised for his fighting style combining lightning with the movement of his strikes. He would not only strike a person in their blind spots, he also burned them quite badly to boot. Definitely not something a bank robber would want to fight against. Even the higher end criminals of the city would want to watch themselves around this kid. She watched as the donations climbed the tiers and before long reached the nights goal in only twelve minutes. Phoenix would be signing autographs and meeting with fans at the Bisben Grand Arena tonight to kick off the start of this years tournament, dubbed the Tournament of Talent. |

⠀⠀⠀People from all over the city were clamoring to get inside the arena as the clock was about to strike midnight. Within only an hour the first round would begin and two of the 24 combatants would step into the massive room to do battle. This was not a battle to the death nor was it any sort of knock out match. Vael made her way to the back end of the building, showing a badge to security as they let her pass. Printed on the badge were bold letters stating "CONTESTANT" and the number was 12. This badge was not gained through regular means, in fact she had a personal hand in making sure she had been selected at the twelfth contestant in this show. As she walked into the contestants chambers a gust of wind blew her large cloak back just enough to expose the shimmering blue color of her crested armor typically concealed by her jacket. This light was noticed for only a moment by one of the staff who ushered her to the others in the group. Everyone was eyeing each other, sizing everyone up, but her eyes were on the listings of which number would be tacking the other. There she saw her number 12 had been pitted against number 3 who she noted was already watching her. ⠀⠀⠀Number 3 was a rather small, lanky boy labelled "the heretic." His outfit was modest, a uniform consisting of various browns and whites. He seemed unassuming and that's how they always seem at first. Whether he was new to the games or just new to being a hero, his heart was no doubt set on the prize of $1 million and the promise of a membership in the sponsored heroes registry. It was a very promising way into the big leagues, as some would call it, and the usual way a hot shot would jump into things. The announcer stepped forward and called each number to confirm everyone had been present before taking the first two combatants to their starting areas. Number 1 was set to fight against number 8, though neither of them particularly had her attention. She found her way over to one of the chairs in the back of the room and took at sip at one of the offered beverages. It was going to be an interesting night. |

Loud clangs and cheering could be heard once the fighting began. The tournament was well under way with some matches ending significantly quicker than others. The screening process for some of the entrants isn't always very clear on potential as much as how much bravado one may have. Lowered leveled, even retired heroes were more of a commodity than a service to the city. A large portion of them only serves as cash cows while a notable few did all the dirty work. The first four rounds in the tournament has passed by without much excitement for Vael. The crowd couldn't seem to get enough of the violence and showmanship. Vael glanced at 3 as he made his way across the room to talk with other fellow contestants. Most of them were preoccupied watching out the viewing area or watching from the projectors. Every viewing area from the main seating area to the VIP lounge were protected by the highest available tech money could buy, a rarity even for a big city like this one. Keeping these fully powered was a chore most wouldn't bother to deal with. Safety was the biggest priority the world had nowadays and Vael had to give them props for keeping to the basic foundation.
⠀⠀⠀Vael made a sideways glance at 3 as she gained enough distance to do so. 3 seemed perturbed by her actions and responded with a series of unhelped slashes all of which took little effort to evade. Just about tired of his fire trick, she stopped his last slash with her palm. Her armor was very thin and light, covering a large portion of her body in magic cancelling aura. This armor was crafted from more creatures from her home world, a creature known for its savage nature and brilliant coloring. To this day she has never so much as chipped a piece off the thing and has never found an equal to it's power. It wasnt bad to look at either, save for the cloak that billowed around her as pulled the sword from 3's hands, knocking him back to the ground and impaling the ground near his head with the thin remainder if the blade. 3 already seemed broken. His fight was over before it had a proper chance to begin. The buzzer sounded soon afterwards, the announcer proclaiming her as the victor. She didn't so much as smirk behind her mask as she made her way to the resting chambers designated for the winning contestants of the first round. |
