Biography
Inoso Redcourt
Updated Notes:
- He was taught to lead under Alexander, one of the greatest leaders the Z'Arduani had ever known. He set high standards for himself in hopes to one day uphold the title of king that his mentor had set before him.
- During Inoso's time as leader, the clan grew and become massively prosperous as they developed into a small but wealthy kingdom. Every dragon was cared for and the environment was perfect for the growth of knowledge and magic.
- But of course, all good things must come to an end. For much of his reign Inoso had excelled at establishing alliances and trade routes so that his clan may prosper peacefully, however much of the older citizens of the clan blatantly despised the idea of a strong guard due to a past leader's militant tyranny.
- When an ally of the kingdom warned Inoso of an impending war that threatened to soon breach the Z'Arduani's territory, he was thrown into a deep state of shock and dumbfoundedness. He met with his highest council to devise a plan to protect the clan discreetly, but as weeks passed and they still did not have a viable solution, the members of the council began to flee the territory one by one. Tensions rose and arguments broke out among the higher-ups. Even Inoso's husband, Daskess, grew hostile towards him as anxieties rose.
- This was when Inoso's apprentice and heiress, his granddaughter Ariki, took matters into her own talons and tried to solve the issue with one fell swoop. She made the mistake of announcing the news of the impending chaos to the entire kingdom in hopes that they may come together and find a solution more quickly. Instead the clan erupted into a state of anarchy, with some dragons fleeing immediately while others protested the government, burst into tears in the streets, holed themselves in their homes, began frantically hoarding their belongings, and broke out into skirmishes and hostility in an attempt to gather supplies and act in self-preservation. In the weeks following, the authorities were too focused on lulling the sharp rise in crime to even consider possible solutions to the problem.
- Then, it arrived. War reached the outer walls of the kingdom, and with it came pillagers, rogues, and thieves. Heathens pounded on the gates and wore down the mana-fueled forcefield that protected the outer kingdom. With an emergency order, King Inoso devised a plan just moments before it was too late; all dragons who were strong enough to travel large distances were to gather only what they could carry and flee immediately to the west towards Starfall Isle, while all dragons who were too young, old, ill, or injured were to be accompanied south to meet with an allied clan to the south. He sent his fastest scout to fly ahead and warn the Wind clan that they were coming to seek refuge, meanwhile he personally accompanied the group out of a secret exit tunnel and across the Contagion to meet up with their green-eyed allies. Once the dragons were safely met by their aides and set up camp for the night in which they could rest and tend to wounds, Inoso bid them farewell and took flight until he caught up to the rest of his clan.
- The dragons settled in at a small outpost that Inoso swiftly bought from a group of fisherman upon arriving to the Isle. With treasure and gems from his own personal hoard, Inoso hired the swiftest and most efficient builders in the region to set up satisfactory homes for each of the refugees.
- As months blended into years of rebuilding, the Z'Arduani revered King Inoso as their savior in their time of dire need. He ruled over them with compassion and watched as the clan developed slowly into a kingdom as great as it had been in its former glory. They took advantage of the fertile land and coastal spoils to bolster their trade economy, and a small guard was developed to serve as protection against future hostilities. Peace and prosperity settled over the clan once more, thanks to Inoso.
- That is why it came as such a shock and outrage to everyone in the kingdom when word spread that King Inoso had been stabbed by an assassin and very nearly died. He was bedridden for a long while, but was expected to make a full recovery. His attacker was a dragon named Aliath Gustvale, a dark cult follower who had previously remained undetected by the guard by navigating through the sewers. The assassin was captured and sentenced to life in prison, but mysteriously escaped his cell and disappeared into the night. He was never seen again.
- As Inoso recovered, he made the decision that he would not be returning to his role as the king. His son, Pearl, had been serving as an interim leader while Inoso recovered, but Inoso believed that he had set up a good foundation for his son's reign and decided that it was time to retire from the throne. He announced his resignation with a reaction of solemn respect from his kingdom, and has since watched over his son with quiet guidance and immense pride.
