Maeby

Assassin
Assassins work under the assassin captain, who is currently Dante. An assassin will acquire treasure or gain political advantage through the elimination of important Beastclan/dragon enemies that are too well protected for an ordinary attack. Their tactics of slaughter usually involve stealth and hiding. Assassins also study the Beastclans, such as learning how they fight and where they typically live.

Maeby is a seemingly kind Fae who holds the uncanny ability to read other dragons like a book. Don't bother to lie- she'll know if you do. She only has space in her heart for what she deems necessary, and that would be the one god, above all other deities, Arenji.

- Maeby's four-eyed phylactery is named Miney. She seldom makes any noise and more often then not, watches and observes dragons. Most people find her unnerving at the least.

- All I Have To Do is Dream

- Maeby was born as a member of the cult-like clan Melohn. She was brought up on their beliefs before being sent to the Lavaburst Clan shortly after the Melohn and the Lavaburst Clan became allies.

- Maeby's birth as one of the Melohn's Chosen caused them to raise her to be a living weapon. How she became a tailor is unknown, but she was always a fast learner. This is mostly evident in the training that she went through. It was rigorous, tough. To fall behind was to truly fall.

- Maeby will fight on the Lavaburst Clan and their allies' behalf, but never on the deity they worship.

- Additionally, it is routine for Lavaburst Clan to go to their church to pray to the Lightweaver. During this time, Maeby goes somewhere to be alone. Anywhere quiet.

- She and the invoker, Doomsday, share a hatred of dragonkind. Doomsday can see and speak with ghosts and knows many, many of the wrongs that dragons have committed. Maeby does not need ghosts to see these wrongs. However, as invoker, Doomsday also calls upon the deities, usually the Lightweaver, for help, assistance or guidance. Maeby considers him to be a friend, but she does not trust him much. He will likely not turn.

- Maeby is known for being charismatic and persuasive. She tries to get her clanmates to doubt their deities with sweet words and honeyed promises. It has worked on the two dragons Bison and Naathim. Their doubts aren't strong yet, but they will surely grow.

- She likes to stick around fragile dragons. Dragons whose minds can be changed and bent easily so she can set their minds in the way of Arenji. To them, she might seem like someone who truly cares about them, but in reality she only cares for her one true god, Arenji.

- She has three birdskulls in her necklace. They are from hooded hen she killed on one of her first hunts, only a few months after her birth. Her clan had called it a stepping stone. They had said she would be a fine beholder of Arenji's truth.

- Maeby was blessed with shadow manipulation in a ritual of the Melohn, though she tends to hide her mastery of it in public, due to her appearance as a Light dragon. She will still use it if she must and during solo missions.

- Maeby has not returned to her birthclan in quite a while. In fact, she doesn't know that the Queen of the Melohn had been overthrown by an Imperial named Tyler Durton.

- She was formerly a tailor before Dante approached her after noticing her utilize her shadow manipulation and super strength. Afterward, she became an assassin to hide her powers from the Lavaburst's First Sphere and general populace.

Origin Story

All hail Arenji.

These were the words that Maeby was raised upon. These were the words that Maeby's entire life was based upon. To her, Arenji was the final truth above all others.

Maeby was born as one of "The Chosen". As such, she was imbued with Arenji's power by the Queen of the Melohn, Lexa, herself. In a dark and dangerous ritual, Maeby's scales were engulfed by a darkness blacker than the shadows themselves. It reached her heart and stayed there, this colorful dragon now black as the night. From her dark scales sprouted green runes, glowing ominously, written by Arenji themself.

This was only the beginning. Beautiful scales were not the only gifts the ritual brought, Chosen hatchlings were also endowed with enhanced strength and speed and the ability to manipulate shadows. Thus began her training. It was brutal, so brutal that Maeby had grown accustomed to blood and screams of agony after only a year. She was taught to perform stealth missions with ease. Infiltration and assassination were all so trivial to her. Her empathy was quickly fading, as Arenji had no need for it.

Then came that fateful day. The Lavaburst Clan had took notice of the Melohn. They didn't know of that all-knowing, powerful god, those blind fools. They only saw the potential in the clan's resources and power.

When Lavaburst ambassadors approached the Melohn, they were quickly introduced to Arenji. Still, they did not back down. In truth, they emphasized with their ideals. They, too, were born of a scarred world and understood, though vaguely, how the Melohn felt.

The Lavaburst Clan hadn't witnessed the Melohn perform anything like kidnapping or murder, so they thought nothing of it. They did not know of their Chosen or their Spawn, so they opted to only keep an eye on them. The two clans became allies. The Lavaburst Clan promised them excellent trade and protection and the Melohn promised the same. In turn, the Melohn sent a dragon to them as a kind of seal of their status as allies. That dragon was Maeby.

Maeby did not argue, she simply saw the Lavaburst Clan as just another clan that could be molded in the essence of her god. Yes, she could go and convince them to pray to a greater light than their Lightweaver, to Arenji. And so she tries to this day.

Currently, she works as a tailor, but a certain dragon has approached her with prospects of something new.

Maeby's Magic
Maeby was born Chosen. In a ritual of her birthclan, the Melohn, she was endowed with enhanced speed and strength and the ability to manipulate shadows.

Shadow Arts
Maeby has been honing her shadow manipulation ever since she first received the ability in that fateful ritual. The Shadow Arts focuses on stealth and blinding opponents.

Shadow Meld - Maeby uses the shadows to move around or hide. This skill is best used at night.
Leap of Faith - Maeby jumps from another shadow to another. She will appear as a fast-moving, black, shadow-like blur as this happens.
Dust Shot - Shadows burst forth and envelop an opponent's face, blinding them.
Arenji's Grasp - A claw of shadow sprouts from the dark, either delivering a quick swipe or attempting to grab hold of an opponent.
Rending Shade - Multiple claws appear from the shadows, scratching and wounding an opponent with the intent to hit vital areas of blood flow.
Crushing Dusk - Maeby produces giant arm-like structures of shadow that crush an opponent.

Tactics
Training under the Melohn blessed Maeby with powerful spells and tactics to take down any opponents with ease.

Shred - Maeby shreds into an opponent's flesh or scales, causing them to bleed.
Nine-tailed Strike - A counterattack that is delivered with a block and series of swift strikes.
Clobber - A heavy bash to the back of the head can leave an opponent reeling or unconscious.
Cold-Blooded - A swift slash to a vital artery. Maeby knows where all of them are.
The Call of a God - Maeby channels all her strength for a few seconds before delivering a single, extremely powerful burst. Afterward, she will be too weak to fight.
