Born in a small town, hidden away in the southeastern Sunbeam Ruins, Eos had always been a gentle dragon.

She had been raised a priestess, and did whatever her tasks were wonderfully well: taking care of the temple night and day, guiding visitors with grace. Life would be good, and faith was a stalwart companion to her.

Of course, things never turn out perfectly. But something like this, even she could never have predicted.

The rumours spread quickly, and so did the faces of disgust whenever she made her way past. This young priestess – if she was even permitted to bear that title anymore – had been using her accursed witchcraft in those very same holy halls she once tended.

There was nothing she could to do change their minds. It was true, after all. Even Eos was not sure what it was, but it was not something one of her position should have been doing.

Would she have been safer if she’d lied?

She never knew.

Those voices – those wretched voices of the dead, who spoke to her, who had her cast out, they could not offer her any advice. Not even an apology. It left the young priestess only one thing to do: run.

With only a thin cloak to keep her warm, Eos fled. The newly-awakened medium could use her powers in exchange for payment, but not much more; still, it was enough to feed the wandering Nocturne. And still Fate laughed.

For while first she had only been wandering, trying to survive nothing but starvation, word reached her that worse would yet come. Now, she was being hunted.

They did not tell her who it was that was looking for her, or why. Eos could easily imagine, though. Such powers were rare – having a medium to work for them, be it freely or not, could be turned into a great asset in the right hands. Or they wished her dead. No outcome sounded pleasant.

And then, after years of running once more, hiding herself, Eos finally found a glimmer of hope. A glimmer of safety.

His name was Hymn. He was once a mercenary, or so he said – but he’d given up on the work and became a simple guard for the nobles in these lands. Yet even that was not what he wanted. And there was something about Eos’ story…

Now together, the two roamed the lands once more, now with a sword at their side to protect the young medium if needed. Until at last, there appeared on the horizon a home that would finally protect them. The Clan.

Eos was safe.
