Biography

..........“...Ah! Just a moment, please! I’ll get to you quickly!”

“...Phew! Thank you for waiting. Now, what seems to be the issue here? Headaches? Mild dizziness? Stomach discomforts? Toothaches?”

“Huh? You’re not here to treat any ailments? Why didn’t you just say so! You gave me quite the scare, don’t you know?”

“You’re new? Ah. I see. You must want to learn more about the inn and what we do within it. Well, you see, sometimes, dragons arrive at the inn in… less than ideal circumstances. We haven’t the slightest idea of whatever happened to them; They might have been attacked by wild critters or perhaps other dragons, or they might have the misfortune of being subjected to the wrath of the elements. Regardless, they are all sent here, to me. Where I treat them.”

“...What? No, no! The inn and the area surrounding it are both completely safe, I assure you! You are in no danger of being injured here. As I said, most of the dragons I treat were injured prior to their arrival. As for the remaining few, well… There might be, complications. During delivery. I also help with those. But if you are concerned about possible dangers surrounding the inn, rest assured, lord Yukro and my mate Maximus have the area safe-guarded. All dragons are safe here. In fact, if I understand correctly, lady Lana also says that those who are not called by the inn are blind to it. You don’t have to worry about being found.”

“Oh, did I make it worse…? Nothing is stopping you from leaving, once you have found your way. I assure you, none of the dragons here are being trapped here against their will. In fact, I’d like to think of the inn as a sanctuary, if you will! A place where dragons are safe to discover their own paths.”

“Anyways, I won’t keep you any longer. I’m sure you already have plenty to think about. In the meantime, don’t be afraid to seek me out if you’re coming down with a cold, alright? Hee hee!”

sIuATM6.png ....................Canary, the Healer

..........In a stark contrast to the other innkeepers’ serious and mysterious personas, Canary is a bright, vivid personality that seems to brighten the moods of all those around her. It is fortunate that she is the local healer of the inn as well, as her kind and understanding nature helps calm down dragons who arrive at the inn with substantial injuries from unknown sources.

If she isn’t too busy taking care of the sick within the medical room of the inn, then Canary is, unsurprisingly, quite the cheerful dragon to talk to. She’s more than happy enough to talk with dragons about questions regarding the inn itself, though most of her answers revolve around reassuring the dragon in question that there wasn’t anything special about the inn, no secret mystery to unravel, no hidden uncertainties to be sprung upon its unsuspecting residents. How much of her reassurances you choose to believe is entirely up to you.
Occasionally, you may also see the imperial Maximus lingering around the medical room to accompany his mate. The imperial and the skydancer were near polar opposites of each other, though the affection between them couldn’t be clearer and more apparent, blind only to the willfully ignorant, and during the rare instances in which Canary cannot be found at the infirmary, you will most likely see her out in the gardens within the inn’s courtyard, collecting flowers and herbs of various sorts as ingredients for her medicines.

If you are not suffering from any particular ailments, it is unlikely that you’ll be able to talk to Canary much during your stay, though the reassurance that someone will kindly nurse you back to health should you ever find yourself unwell is a comforting thought nonetheless…

Mirror Poem by MythicalViper
We are two sides of the same coin
Tragedy and misery intertwined
Yet I find it hard to believe
Your life turned out so different from mine

We started out the lowest of the low
I was but a simple serving handmaid
Born to be quiet, silent, and silent still
To serve until my life faded away

And yet I, like you, boldly refused
To give into my destined fate
I knew that I was meant for more
So I worked my way up to a higher place

I proved myself to the nobles
Became the shadow that was not still
The invisible no longer transparent
Because I was born to be more than Fate willed

I worked hard to prove myself to the world
Changed my coarsest rags to the choicest robes
Hung earrings of elaborate ivory
Walked in the gilded sandals of a high escort

My performances were fantastic
As I danced with fans and parasols
I captivated the hearts of all that watched me
And I could no longer be invisible

Yet, all glamour comes with envy
As I danced, some hearts steeped bitter
Cheery gazes turned into forceful glares
That made my young heart wither

And one day came the sabotage
I was brought mid-dance to my knees
My fans tattered, my parasol torn
As my rivals lashed out to put an end to me

Hemlock, wolfsbane, nightshade drink
My lips touched the tarnished silver rim
Dark poison seeped deep into my throat
As before a crowd I paid for my sins

The rest of the story, I’m sure you know
My dying breath was never reaped
I wounded up here at this forested inn
The same place where you met me

And cruelty can make you harsh and bitter
Or it can make you kind
And I chose to be a believer
That there was still hope and trust to find

That everyone deserves a measure of kindness
No matter how they may look at first glance
And I chose to be that sort of giver
Something you could never understand

But just like me, you were betrayed
And came here, where things got better
So why is it that I could recover
While you drowned, suspicious and bitter?

After all, we’re two sides of the same coin
Spun from the same story of tainted gold
And I want you to know that trusting others
Will always and forever be possible.
