It doesn’t take an observant dragon to find Andorra‘s workshop. In what is normally a peaceful and contemplative valley, her workshop is a vivid flare, as vivid as the dragon herself. Loud bangs, bright flashes and strange smells emanate from the squat building at all hours. But what’s inside is even more fascinating. Illuminated by magically powered solar lights and a potted Starwood Strand tree, thousands of strange metal creations move and sing of their own accord. Bottled spells in a hundred colors glow from the many shelves. Ingredients, experiments and tomes are thrown haphazardly across the floor, but with a merry sort of lived-in clutter that’s more welcoming than threatening. In the middle of the chaos lives the dragon themselves: Andorra, the Eyrie’s enchanter and experimenter extraordinaire.

If the vibrancy of their home is entrancing, Andorra himself is twice as spellbinding, both in looks and in personality. Whether she’s working on enchanting a piece of armor to refract light and distract enemies or making friendly chat with one of her clanmates, Andorra is always the center of attention. He’s as charismatic as his wings are bright, always ready for a chat with a friendly face or an explanation of his newest experiment. (Don’t ask about the latter, though, unless you’ve got an hour spare.) She’s a brilliant mage too, perhaps one of the best of the clan, and always striving to better herself for Lightweaver’s honor—and her own prestige. They would settle for nothing less.

Andorra was born to a small Light clan filled with brilliant mages who dedicated their lives to Lightweaver. Her first book was a book of spells, given to her with august ceremony “so that you too might add a passage to Lightweaver’s Great Book one day.” Andorra has always taken that duty seriously—if with a pinch of his own originality. Instead of choosing to serve directly under Lightweaver as was common in his clan, he decided he would dedicate his life to discovery in her name. He was sent to Heaven’s Eyrie to study from an Arcane clan as a show of inter-flight faith. She was to settle down with Catala and pass on her knowledge to the next generation. But a single nest later, they both realized they weren’t right for each other and amicably parted ways.

Andorra and Heaven’s Eyrie, however, would prove to be a perfect match.

The peace and solitude of the Eyrie’s valleys enchanted him. But what enchanted him more was the vast amounts of magic surging through the vale. They had always heard that Arcane lands were saturated with magic, but they hadn’t expected this. Though they couldn’t utilize the magic himself, the charged air seemed to inspire and enlighten them. The brilliant mage set to work expanding her knowledge. She made herself a brick and mortar workshop, with the help of the Eyrie’s stronger dragons. As a nod to their origins, it’s located just outside the small temple to Lightweaver. Engraved above their door is an engraved image of the Beacon of the Radiant Eye—a reminder of their origins and their purpose. To knowledge, ever after.

Though to some her work may look useless, Andorra knows what she’s doing. What looks like toys and baubles from the outside are new discoveries waiting to be utilized. Every new application of Light magic is a step towards something bigger, whether it’s a magically spelled mechanical bird that never stops peeping (perfect for an alarm clock) or a patented spell process that stops ink from ever drying out. He’s sure he’ll eventually hit on something big. His greatest desire is to see one of his discoveries enshrined in Lightweaver’s library. They’re often seen innovating far into the night, refusing to give up until they’ve made their next step towards their ultimate goal. She’s curious if she might be able to wield other types of magic—or perhaps the very base of magic itself, untainted by the elements. Any attempts to get her to put her work aside for a while are futile. She’s as stubborn as she is charming, and dragons who have tried to dissuade her always fail in the face of such a combination.

Until he makes his breakthrough, he’s happy to sell his baubles and spellwork to any visitors—or anyone he’s visiting, as he often leaves the clan in hopes of proving his theory of “base magic”. For any dragon living within the Eyrie, his work is free: it’s a great deal, considering his prodigious skill with enchanting. Some dragons even ask for her help just to strike up a conversation with the bright and energetic dragon. She’s a great talker and a friendly face, always good for a chat even when she’s hard at work. She’s won many hearts that way, but for now, her own heart is dedicated to her discoveries. He and Catala are still good friends, often going out of their way to chat or write a note together to their beloved single child.

Lightweaver mustn’t be kept waiting long, and Andorra doesn’t plan to. Their big discovery is right around the corner. It has to be.
