Video with him in it: Hawthorn lies to himself

Special ability: Calm
Hawthorn has the ability to calm down any agitated ally, making them think clearly and taking any anger they may be feeling and turning it into STR and SPD. The angrier a dragon was the biggest their stat boost will be.
Hidden ability: Martyrblood
When taking damage Hawthorn can boost an ally’s stat with 5 points, which can stack up to 5 times. When incapable of fighting all allies will receive a 30 point stat boost on a random stat.

Hawthorn was born a royal, and was raised to become the heir to the throne. When the time was there for him to take over his parents their land he vowed to bring the land into a state of prosperity and peace. The land- which had only recently recovered from a series of wars and plagues- was obviously not in the best shape, but with Hawthorn’s gentle yet firm lead the broken kingdom rebuild itself, greater than it had ever been before. The tundra was calm and patient, which really benefit him when talking to farmers, workers and all kinds of dragons who were discontent with their way of life. It had been a blessing, for if Hawthorn had been even a little less patient his kingdom could have easily fallen into a state of civil war.

However, with wealth like the kingdom possessed, other lands were all too eager to take over. Before they could, Hawthorn got engaged to a female skydancer named ‘Aediva’. The skydancer was… not what one would expect a mate of a calm, benevolent and honest king to be. It almost seemed as if Hawthorn had chosen his future queen based on how much of a polar opposite she would be. The female was ill-tempered, rude, violent and openly declared she was only using the king to gain status and more money than one would ever be able to spend. Hawthorn knew, yet he never voiced how much he was hurt by his bride’s words. Aediva had been put in charge of making sure the kingdom had an army to defend itself, and the skydancer- despite her rather poor personality- did a good job keeping the many dragons in shape. She was a great head of the military, but as a wife she remained less than desirable.Despite this, every time the skydancer would enter the throne room Hawthorn would greet her with a smile and a few love-filled words, which were ignored.

The tundra genuinely felt as if his wife, the queen, did not love him, but rather loved her position and stayed with him because of it. Many nights did the tundra wander the royal gardens, shedding tears not a single dragon was allowed to see. He was the king, he was supposed to be the symbol of this land’s hopes. He was not supposed to show he was suffering.

Hawthorn never saw the archer who fired the poisoned arrow at him, nor did he feel it pierce his shoulder, but when his legs gave out he noticed the blood, and the strange numbing sensation he knew something terrible had happened.

Sounds of fighting reached the tundra. A few guards had apparently caught the archer. One guard quickly made his way over to the fallen king, carrying him towards the medical wing of the castle. The most skilled docters of the kingdom could not heal him, and word quickly spread trough the castle that the king was dying.

It reached Aediva as well.

With little time left to live Hawthorn was preparing himself to die. The tundra mentally apologized to all those he could have wronged, and all those who did not feel like their king had done a good job protecting the land. He especially apologized to his queen, begging for her to find happiness and live in peace.

As strange as it sounded, Hawthorn had not expected a few doctors to break down while tending to his wounds. When inquiring why they were hurting they stated that the king had been like a close friend to them, and they couldn’t stand the thought of losing him. A few guards, maids, servants, chefs…. Everyone in the castle seemed to mourn the king.

And then Aediva entered the room, demanding everyone to leave. Her voice was full of fire, hate and anger, and none dared to go against her.

None, except the king.

With a small smile, watery eyes and the knowledge that the following words would be his last words he spoke to his queen.

“My love, there's no reason for tears.... there is no reason to feel pain because of this....”

After he passed away, the kingdom was caught in a war with the land that had send the assassin, a war that would ultimately end both lands.
[ ? ] Hawthorn had no idea he had so many friends…
[ ? ] He was mated toAediva.
[ ? ] Though the two were mated, they did not have any children together.
[ ? ] Hawthorn himself never felt like he had any enemies.

Extras
[ Though Hawthorn died, he's far from gone ]
[ Aediva and Hawthorn have never officially gotten a divorce, but Hawthorn no longer sees her as his wife. He sees her as someone who eliminated all her good and positive traits on purpose: Someone who did not only drown in despair herself, but caused hundreds, if not thousands to die because of her bloodthirst. ]
[ Named after a flower which in victorian flower language symbolizes 'hope' ]
[ Though Hawthorn can be considered a 'Martyr', he is not to be underestimated when it comes to combat. ]
