BANANE
traveler / explorer

★★★ QUICK LOOK

Uh-oh, looks like this curious Tundra wandered a little too far from his home lair (294468, Dragonation), and now he's off to see the world! If you ever feel the urge to exalt, he'd really appreciate it if you could just return him home instead, or to the 'Dragons Off to See the World' thread, here. If you don't want another traveler in return, you can also drop him off at the Traveling Dragon Rest Hub!

Banane is adventurous explorer, one whose heart longs for the distant horizon. He can never stay in one place for long, and he hopes to fill his notebooks with knowledge from every land.

His time in the Clan of Drifting Silver was characterized by family - his brother, Orque, is his best friend, despite their opposing personalities. He loves his parents deeply.

Now he hopes to find new families and new friends.

★★★ TRAVELS

His first stop was at a dusty caravanserai in the Lightning desert, just in time to join the Dessert Beach Party! He visited all the different food stalls and activities with father-daughter duo Vin and Azlem. The two Lightning locals competed in the beach volleyball tournament - Banane was their loudest fan. At a games stand he won a golden aviator satchel. By the end of his stay, he was exhausted, satisfied, and had eaten enough dessert to last him the rest of the year.

Full to the brim, Banane had a bit of trouble flying. To make it easier on himself, he decided to travel through the Windsinger's domain. It was easy at first, gliding with the wind, but then he ran into a massive storm -

He woke to a glassy-eyed Fae poking him with a spear and a Nocturne going through his belongings. They took him back to their home, where he was sent to live with an Imperial with had also accidentally stumbled upon the clan.

He was smitten with her from the very first time he laid eyes on her: her black and white body with its delicate pink wings was beautiful. One thing led to another, and they had a beautiful clutch of four hatchlings. But soon, Banane began to hunger for adventure once more.

Knowing that she could not stop him, Naima gifted him a pair of Dustrunner's Arctic Goggles so that his flight might be a little less hazardous. Bidding her goodbye, Banane took to the skies once more.
- Adventurnado15

His wandering took him far from the lush lands and green steppes of the Windswept Plateau to a place where the wind stung with heat and tried to strip scale from skin. Below the land died out, greenery gave way to grave sites, forests to pillars of stone, and all that was healthy blurred into a ruined landscape of rot and disease.

Banane did not wish to stop here, but fatigue drove him downward and into the lands of the Plaguebringer, though he tried to be careful not to bring attention to his decent. Despite his best efforts, Banane found himself at the mercy of a Wildclaw pack.

His efforts to explain himself were in vain, and he was dragged to the skeleton of some long-dead beast, its ribs having been made into the home of these savage Wildclaws. He was put before their steely-eyed matron, and with cold words she offered him one night's rest. The following day, he was escorted to safety by several of her warriors.

Banane high-tailed it to safer ground - the domain of the Lightweaver - where he found a traveling partner, another colorful Tundra, though he couldn't quite tell if her colors were natural or just paint.

She had traveled to the Sunbeam Ruins to visit her favorite art store, but along the way she'd discovered that her home lair had gone missing. Luckily, she'd found a new clan to take her in, and she invited Banane back to it.

They shared stories of their adventures and really hit it off - so well, in fact, that they decided to court. They both had adventures to get to, but Sornieth could wait - their current adventure was romance!
- airemarshal

He flew for many days before he came across a friendly clan: they proclaimed that they welcomed all. He was greeted their Traveler Ambassador, Tango.

She introduced him to the rest of the clan, and he spent some days telling stories and learning interesting astronomy facts.

When he decided that it was time for him to leave once more, Tango approached him. "My epilepsy makes it impossible for me to travel," she told him. "Will you recount your journey for me, so that I may record it?"

He did so, then, with stories and astronomy facts bouncing around in his head, took to the skies once more.

Banane found himself in The Ashfall Waste, and was surprised when he found a puddle. Looking at it, he realized why it survived the heat: it was magic!, for in it, he saw another way he could look. His genes could be Falcon/Daub/Stained.

Soul was the first dragon he met upon his return to Wind territory. She, too, had recently been to the Ashfall Waste, though she wouldn't tell him more than that. He gathered that it had been a mission of some sort, but he was more interested in admiring her white fur that seemed to shimmer blue when the light struck it.

He spent a few days with her, learning a bit more about Wind culture; for instance, their spirit animal was a snake, not a bird, and shaking the plentiful bamboo stalks around them may cause a cloud of Rhododendron Leafhoppers to come jumping out.

Days turned into weeks, which turned to months, and while Banane spent more time with the rest of the clan, his eyes always returned to Soul. In the end, she accepted his proposal for a nest and they had two lovely hatchlings.

But something was wrong; Soul wasn't her cheerful self. In the end, she admitted to Banane that she was just so tired of babies and nesting and spreading the lineage. He wasn't the first to seek her out.

Banane nodded and tried to comfort her, but he wasn't sure he succeeded, because he didn't quite understand. He'd expected Soul to be happy and to care for their children. Finally, not knowing what else to do, he took his children to a nearby Wind clan, one known for taking in lost and abandoned dragons.

Nuzzling them each in turn, he whispered "Good luck" in their ears, then continued on his way.
- Strukla

Banane wasn't sure if he was feeling sorrow or guilt for leaving his children, so he checked into the Sunbeam Sanctuary's Bed & Breakfast and took a sabbatical. He spent most of the summer and fall there, getting to know the clan, helping in construction projects, and reading in the library. But when the new year came, he decided that he was ready to continue his journey. He felt refreshed, renewed, and full of hope.
- HeyGirl

He decided to travel on foot, just for a change of pace, but when he came to the Sunbeam Lanternhouse - the inn, so similarly-named to his previous stop, and also being a sanctuary - he wasn't sure if he'd just gone in a circle. The residents took his confusion in stride and soon got him settled.

They let him explore to his heart's content, and while he found the Meadow pretty, his attention was soon captured by fellow traveler Ladora. She, however, was much more interested in the ruins below the inn. But over the course of many evenings, providing her with a warm mug of tea and an interested ear at the end of her day, Banane wooed her.

They had a daughter together, but she took after neither of her parents' interests. Instead, to Banane's complete bewilderment, she opted to abandon Sorneith altogether and serve the Lightweaver.

With her departure, his relationship with Ladora deteriorated a bit. He decided that it was best to continue his journey.

"I'm afraid you couldn't have arrived at a more unfortunate time, traveler," the mirror sighed, "but alas, come inside. It is better for you to spend the night here rather than attempt to brave the Scarred Wastelands in the darkness of night."

Banane entered the lair carved from within the Rotrock Rim, where he was met with cold steely glances from the lair's residents. He only planned to stay for a couple of days to restock on supplies and rest anyways. After a few days, however, he ran into a problem: in order to leave, he had to either notify the lair leader or his second in command of his departure, both of whom were incredibly busy with other dragons' comings and goings and the care of hatchlings. Although Banane had had no intention for staying as long as he had, it became clearer and clearer that with every passing day that he'd overstayed his welcome. He was relieved when he was finally able to notify the second in command of his departure; he gladly packed his belongings and left.
- LizardTheGremlin

Banane's anxiety let the wind guide him to the Reedcleft Ascent, and he touched down in a clan who seem pleased by his arrival: he found himself situated in a nest in no time. He was comforted by the friendly atmosphere of the Wind dragons, and he thanked them profusely before he departed a few nights later.
- rottsnaps

Banane stayed for quite a while at a clan the border of the Scarred Wasteland and Tangled Wood; he was surprised at how pleasant it was.

It at least explained the frilly outfit that they had him wear. What was one doing in a place as dreary as this?
- Hyzenthlaay

Deciding that he didn't feel like taking up another job just yet, Banane instead spent some time wandering the Windswept Plateau. He happened upon a young coatl who invited him to stay the night at her clan. She told him that her lair was a pleasant inn accustomed to travelers passing through, and it was her job to collect anyone who looked like they needed somewhere to stay.

Banane was surprised to find that the Aeole Inn was almost like a little town. He spent a few days there relaxing, exploring the different shops, and swapping stories with other dragons. Many of them were originally temporary guests who ended up moving in and invited him to do the same, but Banane declined. After all, there was still so much more for him to see. Once he was well-rested, he moved on.
- swordlily

Though the residents of the Sunbeam Lanternhouse welcomed him back warmly, Banane wasn't keen to spend much time in a place with bittersweet memories. After a very brief rest and resupply, he continued his journey.
- sgkat

Going to the Crystalspine Reaches, Banane wasn't entirely sure what he'd find. A cozy set of caves nestled in the sheer cliffs was certainly a surprise. When he arrived, a Skydancer by the name of Rivalen took down his name and how long he'd been traveling, telling him that the clan often hosted travelers during their journeys and some of their own had even gone off looking for adventure.

While interacting with the clan, he ended up encountering a Wildclaw who certainly seemed a bit out of place within the clan. She told him her name, Whisper, it was, and that she had just started her journeys. During his stay, he wove tales of his travels, capturing the attention of all who listened. Zuu and Ellis seemed most intrigued, and he learned that their father had stayed for a long while with the clan before continuing on his travels.

Before he left, the clan leader, Rose, gave him a gift. A simple white scarf, but she had him look in a mirror that showed what he could be wearing, and boy did he like the look of it. He left the lair with fond memories and hoped his travels would keep leading him to interesting lairs and dragons.
- Agatho

Banane returned to Crow Callers, finding love with a dragon named GrimRaver and learning some self-defense tactics.

During his stay, he thought of the possibility of living in this clan sometime - several other dragons have, and it was certainly a pleasant surprise for him. That was something for him to think about later, though - he bid the clan goodbye, and hoped he'd return again someday.

Feel free to add a bit to Banane's story before passing him along! He wants to see the world, so don't hold on too long, but he would love to make some memories.
