Lord of House Selmont

B I O G R A P H Y

Lord of the mighty House Selmont. House Selmont reigns in the north, controlling the north of Sornieth. The capital of this powerful house is located in the great city of Blackrun Pass. The great city creates an barrier, through which is the only way to reach the northern peaks of the region. The city of Blackrun is said to be the most fortified castle in all of the realm, surpassing even the castles of House Valliard and Gallark. The symbol of House Selmont is the black wolf, the House's words are; "The lone wolf dies, a reminder to those of House Selmont that one is nothing without his brothers.

Desmos was born into the high families of Selmont. His father was a legendary warrior, said to have slain thousands of dragons while conquering the throne. When his father was killed at the Battle of Precipice Point, Desmos assumed the mantle as Lord of House Selmont and swore vengeance against House Valliard for his father's murder. From that day, Desmos began his own conquest to control the realm, and destroy all of House Valliard. House Valliard has a firm hold on the south-west, along with the Emerald Isles. Vassal Houses Arkwyll, Carraghan and Osgreif have all sworn fealty to Valliard, while Gallark seeks the aid of the Auldruns, a band of desert tribes pledged to the Gallarks in return for safety and protection against their enemies.

In the heat of battle, Desmos can also be a furious and deadly combatant, quickly building up a reputation for himself, even from a young age. Desmos' courage and just ruling of his territory as earned him the favor of the smallpeople and higher born alike. Desmos is guarded closely by his Kingsguard, an elite personal guard composed of 5 dragons that have sworn a lifelong vow to protect their king. Selwyn of House Vaike commands the Kingsguard. A Kingsguard is expected to lay down their life for their king, and to take it if they fail. There is said to be no rival in swordsmanship to the Kingsguard.

B I O G R A P H Y

When Desmos was but a young boy, a lord in the making, Selwyn was a member of his father's Kingsguard. Selwyn stood by his King at his council, along with the King's advisors and Hand. At the time, Selwyn was not the commander of the Kingsguard, simply a member of it. Despite this, Selwyn was always kind towards Desmos, bringing him sweets from the bakery and recalling tales of his battles protecting Desmos' father.

Desmos' mother was from House Lancaster, her marriage to Desmos' father was part of a pact to ally Houses Lancaster and Selmont together to fight their growing foes. Though the marriage was initially loveless, Desmos' parents came to love each other, and soon Desmos' mother gave his father a child. Desmos.

House Selmont is infamous for it's legendary battle armor. Crafted from the armor and blood of fallen enemies in the House's long history, the armor has been worn by the reigning Lord since the House's beginnings. The armor belonged to Desmos' father,
and now belongs to him. Each individual peace carries a special homage to a feat of House Selmont. The guards of the tail, shoulder and wing were crafted from the Battle of Ironcross, the greaves smelted from the precious metals plundered during the Sack of Eldermere.
The most infamous piece however, the fabled Helmet of House Selmont was crafted from the horns of Yghos, the mythical Dragonlord, said to be the first true king of the realm.
