Biography

Doctor Hew

Go ahead and laugh, even if it hurts.
Go ahead and pull the pin.
What if we would risk everything we have
and just let our walls cave in?

Hew was mostly raised by his mother. His father was absent for most of his childhood, having been hunting for most of it. He even missed his hatching, which is why he was named after his mother's old beloved home, the Hewn City, instead of Hunter, his father's desired name for him.

As a result, he holds his mother's philosophy on life and places a large value on life. His father offered to take him hunting with him, and though Hew agreed to go once or twice, he cried every time he saw something die and was inconsolable. Eventually, Gavis stopped inviting him, and Hew was relieved because he didn't have to feel like he was letting down his father.

Over time, Hew found a passion for healing, and preserving life, so he took up the profession of doctor. Although, because the clan already had an apothecary for minor injuries and illness and a healer for more major maladies, Hew found himself specializing. He takes on long-term cases, working individually with the patient to gradually recover. He also takes on strange and potentially highly dangerous cases, cases that are not easily cured by the other doctors.

One of Hew's longest standing patients is a wildclaw by the name of Hinnah. Hinnah was sent from the plaguelands to find healing for the illness she hatched with. At first, the high-blooded lady showed little interest in Hew or his treatments, and even refused to admit she was sick, but over time, Hew was able to work with her. Though years have passed since she first arrived and it is very likely she will never fully be healed, Hew has faith that one day, he will find a cure, or at the very least, help his patient to be satisfied with her condition and find joy in life once more.

Whenever Hew gets an idea for a cure (or anything in general really), he tends to get very excited. Until the moment the idea hits, he is very calm and quiet, but once he gets it, the words start bubbling out of him, barely making sense to the nearby dragons as he rushes around trying to find everything he needs to act on his idea.
