Starbloom was hatched on the first day of Clan Adeptica's second Starfall Celebration, when they had just moved to the mountain caves below the Observatory. Hers was one of two orphaned eggs hatched that day; the other was Belladonna's. The two were playmates as hatchlings, and Belladonna even picked up a little bit of the Fae emotive sign language from her. When the clan's new Enchanting Goblin arrived near the beginning of the festival, she was drawn to Starbloom almost immediately, even though she was still a hatchling. They've always been companions.

Unlike her adoptive mother, whose interests lie in the magical properties of Arcane's native minerals, Starbloom is interested in the meteorites that fall onto the land, particularly the ones that harbor alien lifeforms, or the seeds thereof. She likes to collect, study, and cultivate the plant seeds and DNA that she sometimes finds attached to meteorites. One day,* while scavenging for specimens, she ran across an orphaned Arcane egg herself. When she brought it home to the clan, everyone agreed that she could and should raise it as her own someday.

One of Starbloom's other best friends is Ember. They have agreed that if and when Ember ever leaves on her journey to the Ashfall Waste, Starbloom is going with her, and so is her adopted child.
