Born to the Nature flight, Njothr never felt entirely like he belonged in the beautifully chaotic landscape of his homeland. He was undoubtedly proud of his heritage, and held a strong love for the act of nurturing living things- even as a hatchling, his quarters could be found crammed with homemade clay pots housing found seedlings, and even small animals held within carefully constructed terrariums. The gold fledgling, however, had always been curious about what lay beyond the twisting trees of the Shrieking Wilds.

As a young adult, then, the announcement of his decision to accompany a young guardian clanmate on her Search came as an unsurprising one to many of his clanmates- though he was certainly met with mixed reactions. Some frowned, and muttered that his company was a disruption of the sacred, and traditionally solitary, act of a guardian's Search. Others smiled and shook their heads, having known that Njothr had been bound to leave eventually.

The guardian herself was not bothered by the prospect of Njothr's company- indeed, not much seemed to bother Tsima, a stoic gray dragon scarcely younger than Njothr himself. And so the unlikely pair set off, Tsima following her internal compass south, Njothr flitting beside his traveling companion like a golden shadow.

Their trek took them out of the Wilds, across the bay separating the Viridian Labyrinth from the main continent, and into the sun-touched lands of the Lightweaver, where the landscapes were rolling, yellow-grassed hills and ancient white stones, and where the trees stood much straighter and more neatly than either of them was familiar with. South and a little bit west, toward the coast of the inland sea, toward the sheer drop of a cliff- and to the fledgling city that was being constructed beside the cliff, terraces and docks and squares of the same pale stone spilling outward.

It was beautiful.

He and Tsima soon found the dragons at the head of this growing clan- Moss and Fjord, who welcomed the fledgeling dragons with warm hospitality. Notwithstanding the fact that they were scarcely larger than Njothr himself, and practically dwarfed by his larger companion, they invited the wearied young dragons in to stay.

What was intended to be a temporary stop alone soon became something else- for the following day, when Njothr and Tsima allowed themselves to be shown around the little village, Tsima took one look at the beginnings of their clan's library and declared that this was what she was supposed to stand guard over, this collection of knowledge. She desired to protect it, and see it flourish, much as Njothr had done with his menagerie of potted plants, so long ago. He was happy for his companion, of course- Tsima seemed to glow as she stood sentinel over her new charge- but unsure of where to continue for himself, without his companion, and unsure also if he wanted to stay or not. At the urgings of Tsima, Moss, and Fjord, he agreed to stay for at least a short while.

And what was supposed to be a short while became something else still, as Njothr found a role for himself too. He found himself fascinated by the comings and goings of various traders, and asked Fjord if anyone had thought to keep track of such a trade yet. Fjord's pleasantly befuddled shrug sparked a determination in Njothr, to understand this riddle of trade, as bustling and wild as anything he'd encountered in the jungles of his home, in its own way. He became a bookkeeper and trade overseer, working closely alongside Tsima, who remained a close friend of his ever after that, to devise a cataloguing system, and drew up messily sketched blueprints for something he excitedly referred to as an "airdock," promising Fjord that it would open up new horizons for the clan he had claimed as his home.
