Hemera is one of the Diurnal Deities: three gods of light and the cycle of the day, once worshipped by a small cult with devotees scattered across Sornieth for thousands of years. This scattered cult, unable to form a cohesive community, eventually dissolved as its traditions were forgotten by mortal dragons. The three deities decided not to seek out new worshipers, but instead to descend to the earth in dragonform and spend the next epoch relaxing, raising a family, and experiencing the world as mortal dragons do: moment by moment.

Hemera was the goddess of Dawn, associated with sunrise, rebirth, hope, and compassion. As a former goddess, she is happy to provide guidance for any of the dragons of Valkama who request her help learning how to commune with their deity or interpret the sacred texts of their religion. She also provides counseling for dragons struggling with mental illness. In her spare time she enjoys baking and making jewelry.

Hemera’s children seem to be made of gemstones that shine with an inner light and the promise of things to come. It’s hard to say what these children will be like when they are grown, but they will surely be a blessing to anyone they meet.
