FR_Taki.png

An oddity given the rest of his clan, this Spiral isn't very manly, or even very brave. He dislikes the noise of MEN AT WORK, and though he's very chatty to strangers visiting the MAN-CAVE OF MANLY MANS, it's only to try and catch a break from all the EXTREME MANLINESS around him. Cowardly to the point where he'll only ever contemplate running away from the world in general, he shouldn't have a place in the clan - but MIGHTY, MACHO, MOST MANGENTA MANLY MCBRO makes sure that Taki doesn't leave. For once, it's not just because of some niggling MANPULSE - This smart-talking Spiral has a way with spirits, and can both see and hear MANIFESTATION, the resident Christmas spirit. For a dragon to have one ability is uncommon, but two is a omen indeed; as such MANLY MCBRO sees Taki as a good luck charm for his MAN-CAVE, and so keeps him around with bribes and threats in equal measure.

The only individuals Taki can be truly comfortable around are all ghosts, on account of the fact that they can't physically hurt him. It has been said that the only way any dragon could get to Taki's heart would be to pretend they were some sort of spirit in their own right, just so that he might be brave enough to talk to them about something other than running off. That approach likely wouldn't work out in the long run, though.

Occasionally, he says odd words that do not have any recognizable meaning. Coca-cola, burger, sandwich... MENTEN is tasked with remembering such words, and as a result occasionally blurts them out.

more details

- Taki thinks that he got stuck in a rift when he was just a hatchling, and he was pulled out by Ulfsarker.

- In actual fact, Ulfsarker carefully made sure that Taki's egg hatched in the rift, then pulled him out, creating an anomaly which Ulfsarker hoped would help him to find his way back home someday.

- To protect the tiny Spiral from exalting, Ulfsarker then told Manly McBro, the clan's current leader, about Taki and claimed he would be a great source of income because he could 'see the future'/'tell fortunes'. McBro proceeded to keep Taki close to him, raising him in the throne room. Taki was used as an advisor during this time.

- But the Spiral didn't like the loud clan; he was quite delicate by nature, and besides that, he kept on seeing these big, scary, clan-ending events, all of which he thought were really going to happen.

- Which meant that he kept on trying to leave and find a more peaceful clan, and on top of that, the dragons hearing these predictions began to realize that Taki wasn't telling the future - he was telling the most likely future of hundreds that he could access.

- Due to the increasingly desperate escape attempts after Mary Sue arrived in the clan, and Sue's attempts to kill Taki, McBro eventually faked Taki's death and kept him in a dark cave in the very centre of the system, suspended in an isolation tank so that all his mind could focus on was his 'visions'. Every day, Taki would try to access as many futures as he could, and write them all down.

- Taki eventually figured out that by using a special obsidian knife, he could create space-time rips. This meant that he didn't need an isolation tank to focus his mind, but due to the Mary Sue problem, McBro continued to keep him in the cave without it. However, now he began to send in dragons desiring answers to various questions, and Taki once again began to advise in all manner of areas. Over time, he began to learn how to pick the most likely timelines.

- Bear in mind that Taki's never been outright mistreated by McBro and has always eaten well, slept well, etc. He's very, very slowly beginning to trust the leader, since he completely relies on the Ridgeback for survival. Ulfsarker tries to undermine this whenever he can.

- Welded to Taki's arm is a golem gauntlet, and he's had the golem since he was a teeny hatchling. It helps him write down predictions, but it also watches him and transmits footage of whatever he's doing back to the clan's security room.

- Taki doesn't trust any dragons except for Ulfsarker and his friend, Unphazer.

- One of Taki's seasonal duties is to rouse the christmas ghosts from their hibernation each year. Because Taki's the only one in the clan able to both see and hear the spirits, they make an effort to get along well with him, and he sees them as the closest thing he has to friends. He can't trust them, though.

- Taki is dead certain he knows the truth about the lightning farm, but all he will say is that nobody is guilty. Ulfsarker is rather annoyed about that.

- He has vague memories of a dragon called Unabled, and liking this dragon very much. These are echoes from a timeline in which Unabled didn't die while Taki was in the egg. Taki feels a sense of loss and betrayal when he thinks about the clan leader for similar reasons - Unabled was the leader before McBro, and Taki almost thinks it's more 'right' for Unabled to continue being the leader.

- Taki: "waterfall"

- This makes more sense when you consider his surname. Since Osaka is a place name, the full name means something like "born near a waterfall in Osaka".

- Which he wasn't. In fact, to my knowledge there's no waterfalls in Osaka, although there is one in the national park 3km away. But his parents clearly thought that would be a cool stage name, so there.

- And it still makes more sense than Ice-T and B.o.B.

Personality

Secluded, wary of other dragons due to endless posibilities of harm and anxious because of countless visions of barely avoidable dooms. Introverted and untrusting of all but few, yet is willing to share with others predictions of the future, not seeing it as a secret to hide or cower for. Mature in the sense that he never got the chance to have an innocent life ignorant of harsh realities.

History

A number of years ago, a dragon named Ulfsarker hatched an egg inside a mysterious rift, the newborn Spiral dragon being named Taki. Taki was altered inside the rift upon hatching, being bound to the time-space anomaly within. He gained the ability to see countless and unpredictable futures, and a possibly dormant ability to recall the past. Sometimes, he can see the lingering ghosts of lives long past away.

Not long after Taki's birth, Ulfsarker took him the the clan leader, McBro, and pleaded with him the keep the originally unwanted Spiral hatchling. He told the leader of the hatchling's ability to see the future and tell fortunes of others. After some time of consideration and tests to prove the claims, young Taki was allowed to stay, under the conditions that he would be raised in the throne room, constantly under the gaze and careful watch of the clan leader, and act as an advisor for the clan. A Golem was permanently welded to his arm, a tool and security system in one.

As time went on, the young Spiral leatned of the loud, wild, and unpredictable nature of the clan he was now bound to. With every passing day, new visions of devastation and death rocked his thoughts, clouding his inexperienced mind. He had little way of knowing fact from possibility, very event seeming so real and just barely on the verge of happening. He made many attempts to escape from the clan, to find a place where his mind could be at rest. But all his attempts failed one after another.

Soon enough, after one dragon that joined the clan had the possibility to cause devastation like she were born from hellfire itself for the very purpose to destroy, and that dragon having also come close to ending the young dragon's life, the clan leader McBro was forced to seal Taki away and fake the Spiral's death. He was thwn kept deep inside the cave systems the clan resided in, deeper than most dragons dared to travel. Inside the chamber he was placed in, there was an isolation tank where Taki was forced to spend his every waking and sleeping moment. There was nothing he could do besides emerse himself in the chaotic sights of future. The Golem upon his arm helped to record every vision and prediction he saw.

More time past by and Taki learned to use a special obsidian knife forged inside the same rifts that he was born. With it, he could create his own rifts to study, and use to see more futilures without the suspension tank. Although, he was not usually able to control where the rifts lead, so he stayed careful, and limited himself to stay out of danger, and hope to prevent anything dire.

He learned that the portals could lead like tunnels through space, most often only between two points. His clan often used those kinds to their advantage in trade, though had to be careful in case they closed or wouldn't open. Stronger portals acted like crossroads, leading to multiple places, but were more rare and didn't last long. Some rifts appeared to lead through time, ones going into the past more stable than those leading forward, yet still most were too weak to go further than a few hours in either direction. However, the most rare were those of time-space. They had a different energy to them, as if they connected entirely different universes. Taki refused to ever enter one, or leave it open long enough for anyone else to do so. His visions of horrible fates only became worse when they appeared, and he did all he could from his small space in the caves to prevent those tragic possibilities.

Upon occasion, when the rare visitor was allowed to know of him, the Spiral would tell individual fortunes, and try his best to give advice to avoid tragedies and lead to successes. However, he only did this when asked by either the clan leader or Ulfsarker due to his wariness of others. He only truly trusted those two, and if any came to him without permission or without Taki knowing there would be a visit, he would hide and refuse to speak until the danger left.

But there was a few other dragons that the Spiral trusted, one of whom he never met, yet retains vague and fond memories of. Unabled, the previous clan leader to McBro. Because of the visions Taki sees, Unabled is known to the Spiral without them having ever met. Taki has always had a fondness for the not quite memories of the dragon, having an unvoiced thought that the dragon should still be the clan leader instead. Perhaps things would be better if he was.

The other two dragons Taki knows are no longer alive yet still exist as odd, hibernating ghosts. Every year since the Spiral joined the clan, he was given the task of waking CHRISTMANS and GINGERBRO from their long sleep every Christmas, due to his ability to actually see, hear, and interact with them. They all make an effort to get along, and it usually works out quite well. For Taki, the two ghosts are the closest things he has to real friends, something he likely would not have if he had been exalted like what originally would have become of him. Durring Christmas, Taki is at his most peaceful than at any other time of year, when he is with the two holiday ghosts.

But there is yet still more to come...
