Nheomi

January 25th 2016, a strange and frightening phenomenon occurred. The couriers disappeared. But deliveries went on as normal, all carried by a diligent little fae called Naomi. She whisked across Sornieth, delivering multiple messages to different lairs, all at the same time. Some became curious of the little messenger, and attempted to find her home. Yet all they could discover was the name Naomi. Finally, someone thought of using the famous scrying ability of the Spiral Keep, searching not by her name, but the colors of her wings. Little was found, but finally they had a lead on a little fae named Naomi, who had disappeared long ago to serve her deity. Yet searching among the records of the departed, where they have their portrait taken as they stand upon the pedestal of honor, had no results. She had no portrait.

Even more striking was the count of her kin. It was in the hundreds of thousands, more than any lair known was able to hold, and it kept rising! It was long known that every clan, no matter it’s size, was only able to hatch 25 hatchlings at once, it was just part of the rules that governed the world, yet Naomi’s count was rising faster than that.

And then the truth was uncovered. Naomi’s lair was that of the deities’. All of the dragons that went on to serve dwelled with her. Finally, the couriers returned, but neither they, nor the prophets, called Game Mediators, answered questions about the girl, who vanished without a word. Sornieth was left to wonder, who was Naomi? What was her relation to the exalted? Was she their caretaker? Their Warden? Did she keep them from returning, or merely care for them as they served their duty? Did she serve the deities? Or, as they had no record of her, did she serve the Shade.

Talk of her was restricted to whispers in the Shadow, even after one of her children was discovered to dwell in Sornieth still. Though she no longer bears young, Willow has had many children, and the line of the one termed ‘Gatekeeper’ continues to this day.
