Biography

Maajhul
Outcast | Honest | Polite | Determined

Deep in the Scarred Wasteland, there lay a rather large kingdom of dragons. Their king produced but a single heir to his throne. Maajhul grew up a prince. Set to rule the Plague kingdom, yet born a Wind dragon, he was faced with much controversy throughout his youth. Many believed him unfit to rule outside of his born Flight. Certainly, his talk of seeing the world and accepting other flights into their kingdom did not help his case.

Maajhul was mischievous as a child, always sneaking out of the palace and into trouble. One day, as he was sneaking around the makeshift marketplace, inspecting the other Flights who gathered there, he met a young Guardian from the realm of Light. The Guardian had left his home, searching for his Charge. Before Maajhul could talk more with the dragon, he was called back to the palace by the guards. The Guardian was left in the square.

The desert nation fell into turmoil when the King chose to battle the shade alongside the Plaguebringer. Faced with an early rule, Maajhul did what he could. Having only just come of age, he was out of place at the head of a nation, and the King’s council knew it.

A coup occurred in the night. Maajhul was attacked, when the Guardian from the marketplace arrived. Fighting valiantly, the Guardian ushered Maajhul to safety. They ran past the fallen servants—friends—Maajhul grew up with, out of the palace he called home, and down darkened streets to the wasteland outside the kingdom.

Once they were safe, the Guardian introduced himself as Hamaat, and announced that Maajhul was his Charge. They would retreat for now, keep the prince safe, and consider their next move carefully.

Though he was never excited for the throne, Maajhul felt wronged by the coup. His home had been stolen from him. His family and friends were either passed or imprisoned. He would have to return and reclaim his throne… but it would be impossible to take back the kingdom alone. He needed help.

And so, the two began to travel. Along the way, they met Ansys, an Explorer from the Clan Xelestial. She invited them to stay in the Clan’s lair until they were ready to strike. They could train there, and it was safely hidden among the rocks. It was a deal too good for the homeless, clanless duo to refuse.

So they went. Now, faced with a seemingly impossible task, the prince and his protector live as commoners. Honing their skills, training their bodies and minds for the task ahead.

It will not be easy, but with Hamaat by his side, Maajhul can face any challenge.

Maajhul's body ached. It always did these nights. The training was hard on him. All he wanted was to fall into a bed and sleep until his body and mind recovered. But there wasn't time for that, not anymore. He pulled a book over as he dropped onto the bed. The evenings were for studying. Hamaat would be in shortly to help him memorize the various types of governments. He mostly had them down but it never hurt to brush up on skills. He opened it and began reading. The knowledge that someday he would return to his kingdom and claim what was his encouraged and urged him on. It focused him. And he used that focus well.

In my darkest hours, I could not foresee
That the tide could turn so fast to this degree
Can't believe my eyes, how can you be so blind?
Is the heart of stone, no empathy inside?
Time keeps on slipping away and we haven't learned
