Cinere snorted. How was such a thing called "ice" possible? Everything burned. Everything. Herself included. And she loved it. This fire was her home, her sanctuary when everything else was taken away. She snorted at the thought. She adjusted the black wolf's pelt over her head. She forgot--Ash had been taken away by her pursuers as well. First her parents, then her little brother. Solisoccasum, that sweet little orange-purple dragon who knew nothing of suffering. She intended to keep it that way--only to have her little brother captured, tortured, and eventually killed. She deserved that, not her brother. Not that little dragon who messed around with her and loved to have fun and loved everything about the world. It was a sad thought. And she hated it. Why him? Why not her instead? A low growl sounded, and she realized that was her. She was pawing at the ashes, the ungrateful thing she was named after. Seriously--what kind of a name was Cinere? Something that reminded her so much of death, of destruction. At least it suited her. She loved to burn things. And those things included her enemies, in which she did very effectively. She supposed they were expecting a soft dragon of sympathy-- that might have been her before, but it wasn't now. She hated the world. She hated her life. Cinere shook her head. She could not afford to lose her head over such a small matter of her life. She had to continue. Her family's sacrifice was so she could go on. She had to honor that.

There was a rustle nearby. She narrowed her eyes, and abruptly took to the sky. She was quick,
and smart. This dragon, whoever they were, could not possibly have the advantage over her in her own home. Snorting, cast a quick glance behind her. Nothing. Her pursuer must have given up.
No, she could not think that way. They could have set up an ambush up ahead.

Up ahead, with a jolt of shock, she realized that she might be flying straight into a trap. Wheeling around, she flew straight up. If she had the vantage point, she would most likely be able to spot the dragon following her. There was a glint of scales below her. Cinere's face split into a sadistic smile.
This was her chance to ambush her ambusher. Diving down, the only sound she could hear was the wind whistling aside her ears. She caught the dragon. The dragon... was a spiral? The Spiral snarled in surprise and jerked away from the Wildclaw's grasp. Cinere gasped involuntarily. This dragon was stronger than she expected. She growled as the other dragon flashed a look up, but Cinere told herself to focus on the target in front of her. Letting out a battlecry, she raged, feinting a slash to the right as she darted to the side. Fierce satisfaction coursed through her as she felt her talons connect with scales, but to her surprise, the Spiral--the Spiral--wrapped a slender tail around her claw and yanked as she herself(she assumed, the cloak was concealing her eyes) dove downwards,
taking the fiery dragon with her. Cinere yelped as she collied with the ashen ground and watched the other dragon fly into the open sky. Spitting out ashes(why was she named after them? It was stupid) she got up. Anger had hardened her will and she vowed to kill that dragon whoever she was. Then she saw a flash of her eyes. They were silver-white which she remembered as ice and as far as she could remember, ice melted. With a giddy grin, she tossed herself at the other dragon.
As expected, the dragon dodged to one side, but as she did, Cinere let a blast of fire out of her mouth. She could hear the dragon's agonized cry, but somehow she remained in the air. The Spiral's eyes were lit with fire(not literally). To the Wildclaw's great surprise, only the tips of her wings were singed, and she looked quite... annoyed. Snorting in impatience, the ice dragon took one look at her and whipped out a tail.

Then, darkness.

When she woke up, the only thing she could remember was the taste of blood after that stupid tail had hit her in the head. She sat up, then looked around. She was in some kind of underground cave,
it seemed, with long stalactites on the ceiling and the warm glow of lava seeping from somewhere hidden.
Where is this place? she thought. She felt around. The wolf cape was gone, and so was her armor, tome, and other accessories. The embers that threatened to burn her remained, however,
faithfully by her side. Glancing to the side, she solved the mystery of where her stuff had gone.
On a cabinet made out of some sort of dark wood(probably not, or else it would be on fire by now),
sitting not far from where she lay.
Where she lay. On a soft bed of cool sheets and fluffy, white pillows. How come they weren't on fire? Everything burned. Even her. The fluttering of wings alerted her of a new presence. Not a dragon one, since this one seemed almost... unnatural. A glowing bird settled down on her bedpost and she squinted at it. Was the bedpost not going to catch on fire? Was everything fireproof here?
Probably.

Meanwhile, the Phoenix still was staring at her(and as usual she stared back, as rude as she was)
as if still trying to figure on what exactly she was.
Then it hit her. Was this her familiar? She had never had a familiar before, and certainly not a Phoenix at a pet.
A knock at the door alerted her to a dragon's presence. She tensed, waiting for them to come in.
When he did come in, in fact, her breath was stolen from her. But only for a second. He had beautiful,
shining green eyes the color of emeralds and he moved with a certain gracefulness that would make everyone fall head over heels for him. But of course, she was Cinere and she was a stubborn idiot.
She set her face to a placid I don't care status and stared.
"So," the dragon started, "Better to have me introduce my clan then my psychotic mate, eh?"
Something in the pit of her stomach dropped, and she realized it was disappointment.
Stupid, she thought to herself as another voice called, "I HEARD THAT!" With a chill, she realized that was the same dragon from yesterday. She hissed, then recoiled.
"And therefore that was not a good impression," he said, winking. "If you want, you two sweet and definitely not aggressive ladies can talk it out." Cinere glared at the new dragon.
"Ah, where are my manners. My name's Quinn, and my mate--the one who attacked you yesterday and brought you in quite against her will--is Katrina. Mind if you introduce yourself? It's polite,"
he said once again, giving her a mocking salute. "If not, I'll just leave and bring Kat in so you guys can... talk... it out."
"Cinere," she spat out, as if she hated her name. She did. So very much.
"Cinere, ashes, right?" he asked. Cinere glared at him, and he left.
